🍺 B**r. Brats. And...donuts?! 🍩

Nothing says Oktoberfest quite like b**r, brats, German food, music, community fun...and apparently a well-timed donut break for the EMS crew. 😄

TVEMS was proud to support the 2026 Berthoud Oktoberfest this past Saturday at Berthoud Town Park, helping provide medical coverage while our community came together for one of Berthoud’s favorite fall traditions.

Events like this are one of our favorite parts of serving Northern Colorado. We get to be there when our community gathers, celebrate alongside our neighbors and, of course, make sure help is close by if someone needs us.

A big thank you to the Berthoud Chamber event organizers and everyone who helped make Oktoberfest another great community event.

🍩🚑 Serving the community is serious business. The donuts? Also taken very seriously.

🚑🍼 Some calls you never forget.

At Thompson Valley EMS, we never quite know what the next 911 call will bring. We’re here for our community on its hardest days, its scariest days, and, every once in a while, its very best days. ❤️🫶

Yesterday morning was definitely one of those days.

While transporting an expectant mom to the hospital, it became pretty clear that their newest little passenger had other plans. Our crew pulled off I-25, and right there in the back of a TVEMS ambulance, they helped welcome a beautiful new baby into the world!

To this wonderful family, thank you for allowing us to be part of such an incredibly special moment in your lives. It was truly our honor to care for you and to play a small part in your family’s story.

And to our TVEMS crew who suddenly added “roadside delivery team” to yesterday’s assignment: outstanding work! Your skill, compassion, and calm under pressure represent the very best of EMS. 👏🚑

👟 Step Safely Every Day

Your shoes do more than complete an outfit. They can also help protect you from slips, trips, and falls.

Before heading out, give your footwear a quick “sole-search”:

✅ Choose supportive shoes that fit securely
✅ Look for non-slip soles with good traction
✅ Avoid walking in socks on smooth floors
✅ Replace shoes when the tread, heels, or support begin to wear out

Shoes that are loose, worn, or slippery can make it harder to stay steady. A supportive, well-fitting pair can help you move with greater confidence.

Today’s challenge: Check the shoes you wear most often. Is it time to replace them?

👓 See Clearly. Move Safely.

Good vision and the right medication routine can play an important role in preventing falls. Changes in eyesight, poor lighting, and medication side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness can make it harder to move safely and confidently.

A few simple steps can help:

👁️ Schedule regular eye exams and update your glasses as prescribed
💡 Keep stairways, hallways, bathrooms, entryways, and outdoor walkways well-lit
🌙 Use nightlights in bedrooms and bathrooms to improve visibility after dark
🔦 Replace burned-out bulbs promptly and consider brighter lighting in higher-risk areas
💊 Review your medications with your doctor or pharmacist
🩺 Ask whether any medications may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or balance problems

This is a full-time, onsite, salaried position with a salary range of $71,901 -$101,181 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

🔎Qualified applicants should have:

✅ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
✅ 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, payroll, or a related field
✅ Experience administering payroll for an organization with more than 100 employees
✅ Experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, financial reports, and supporting schedules
✅ Experience with accounting software, payroll systems, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
✅ Ability to learn and provide backup support for AP & AR

Experience in local government, special districts, public safety, healthcare, or EMS is preferred, as is experience with Medicare, Medicaid, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle operations.

When it comes to preventing falls, movement matters. Strong muscles, good balance, and regular activity can help you stay steady, confident, and independent.

A few simple ways to keep moving:

🚶 Walk regularly to build strength and endurance
⚖️ Practice balance exercises, such as standing on one foot near a sturdy surface
🏋️ Join a community exercise or fitness class
🩺 Talk with your healthcare provider before beginning a new exercise routine

Today’s challenge: Get moving for 15 minutes! Take a walk, stretch, practice your balance, or choose another activity that works for you. Every movement is a step toward greater strength and stability.

Partnership looks good under the Friday night lights! 🚑🚒🏈

Last week, Thompson Valley EMS was honored to stand alongside our partners at Loveland Fire Rescue Authority during the Loveland High School vs. Thompson Valley High School football game. Together, our agencies joined our law enforcement partners, the schools, and the community in commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11 and honoring the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the first responders who continue to serve.

We are grateful to both schools for inviting us to participate in such a meaningful evening. Whether responding to an emergency or supporting a community event, TVEMS and LFRA share a commitment to serving and caring for the Loveland community.

Congratulations to Loveland High School on the win, and thank you to both teams for a great game! 🏈

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a loss so profound that time has not diminished its weight.

On September 11, 2001, thousands of people left home expecting an ordinary Tuesday. They were parents, spouses, children, friends, and coworkers. Far too many never returned.

In the midst of unimaginable fear and devastation, firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, and countless civilians moved toward others who needed help. Many gave their lives. Others carried the physical and emotional impact of that day for years afterward.

Today, we remember every life lost, every family forever changed, and every first responder who answered the call.

We also honor those who continue to serve today. The uniform may represent fire, law enforcement, or EMS, but behind it is a person who has chosen to step forward on someone else’s worst day. That service carries sacrifice, responsibility, and a deeply human cost.

Twenty-five years later, may we continue to remember not only how many we lost, but who they were, how courageously people responded, and how strongly our nation came together.

We will never forget.🚑🚒🚓

There are moments when agency patches, jurisdictional lines, and different uniforms simply do not matter.

Our hearts are heavy for our friends and partners at the Greeley Fire Department - Greeley, Colorado following the unexpected loss of Firefighter Alden Foote.

To Alden’s family and friends, we know there are no words that make a loss like this easier. There is only the reassurance that you do not have to carry it alone.

The first responder community is a family built in unusual ways. We meet on difficult calls. We train together. We rely on one another when someone else is having their worst day. And sometimes, heartbreak reminds us just how deeply those bonds run.

Today, it is our turn to be there for our colleagues at Greeley Fire.

Rest easy, Firefighter Foote. We’ll stand beside your GFD family, now and always 💙

🏠 Clear the Path to Safety

Many falls happen in and around the home, but a few simple changes can make a big difference.

Take a quick look around your home:

✅ Remove loose rugs and clutter from walkways
✅ Keep cords tucked away from walking paths
✅ Use non-slip mats in bathrooms and kitchens
✅ Watch for four-legged friends underfoot 🐾
✅ Install sturdy handrails on both sides of stairways
✅ Add grab bars in and around the tub, shower, and toilet

Your challenge for today: Take a 10-minute walk through your home and identify potential fall hazards. A few minutes now could help prevent an injury and protect your independence later.
