Meet Jill! đŸŽč

Jill Jantzen, a native of Oklahoma, began playing piano at the age of five. She received her Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance (2010) from Oklahoma City University, Bass School of Music. In 2013, she completed her Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Awadagin Pratt.

Jill began her teaching career in 2008 as the piano department chair and main instructor at a fine arts high school in Oklahoma City. In 2011, she was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music, where she worked with college music majors and non-music majors. By the end of her term in 2013, she was recognized as CCM’s Outstanding Graduate Assistant of the Year.

Jill specializes in teaching intermediate to advanced levels, but loves working with students of all levels, who are excited to learn piano. Jill strives to allow her own love for art and music to spread to her students. She teaches classical, pop, and jazz music, and likes to include improvisation, rhythmic, and other musical activities in her lessons.

Outside of teaching, Jill maintains an active performing career by giving frequent solo and collaborative recitals. It is through her own performing that she is able to explore new ways of teaching her own students. Past piano instructors, who have ignited her passion for music, include Sergio Monteiro, Amy I-Lin Cheng, and Claudia Carroll-Phelps.

Meet Mike Brokamp! đŸ„

Mike Brokamp’s musical aspirations began in the 2nd grade, and he hasn’t stopped since. Beginning with piano, Brokamp has also picked up percussion, guitar and voice over the years to become the well-rounded musician he is today. During his elementary and high school education at Loveland, Brokamp played in the Loveland High School Stage, Lab and Jazz Orchestra on percussion, guitar and piano, and sang in numerous choirs across the Cincinnati community. Receiving his undergraduate degree in Music and Media Arts & Studies from Ohio University in March of 2012, Brokamp is continually striving to become a better musician through the most important aspect of communication: listening. It is in this way that Brokamp hopes to make himself useful to his students.

Using a prescription of music that will not only make his student’s technical and versatile musicians, Brokamp hopes to help his students become trained in whatever genre they most desire to be trained in. As every genre carries different weight in regards to tone, technique and sound, Brokamp will build a course load catered to every student’s needs.

In his free time, Brokamp enjoys the outdoors, basketball, and cheering for his favorite Cincinnati and Ohio University sport's teams. He also gigs, and tours with his own funk/rock fusion group, Elemental Groove Theory, across Ohio and the midwest.

Meet Claudia! đŸŽč

Claudia Bow, a Loveland local, has been performing music regularly for over 14 years. She began on trumpet, which has been her focus since the start. Attending Loveland High School, she took on as many musical opportunities as she could. On trumpet, she was a member of Loveland’s Symphonic, Jazz, Marching, and Show Choir bands, with the addition of various solo and ensemble groups. With choir and piano in her background alongside trumpet, she took on a path of music education upon graduation.

Getting her Bachelor’s of Music Education at Northern Kentucky University, she studied under Dr. George Carpten IV and Dr. Brant Karrick, heightening her trumpet performance abilities in lessons and NKU’s top performance band. In classes, she developed skills in a wide variety of instruments and conducting techniques, taking up an additional focus on piano, electric bass, french horn, and trombone, while also spending time learning the other brass and woodwind instruments with the intent to teach after graduating.

With a belief that music can change and inspire lives, Claudia hopes to take what she’s learned to help other students of all ages find joy within their own music, grow as a musician, and most of all, have fun along the way.

Message us today to begin your lessons with Claudia 😊
