At the Academy, we teach a wide variety of styles, from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the musician you want to be. Our instructors will show you the fundamentals of sight-reading, technique, and music theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. We are warm, patient, and encouraging, and enjoy sharing our love of music with you. We are located at 1355 Cleveland Avenue, just across the street from Carl's Jr. We have off-street parking in the back, on the west side of the building. You can check out our website at www.lovelandacademyofmusic.com for more information and to see a map of our location. We teach a wide variety of styles, including rock, classical, sacred, and popular music. The important thing is that you learn to play the music you love! Your teachers are patient, fun, and creative in their approach to teaching lessons. They will teach you the fundamentals of sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, technique, and music theory, but do this while incorporating your favorite songs into your lessons. The Academy does not require semester minimums for music lessons. Every student is here on a month-to-month basis. We have rolling admission, so you can begin lessons anytime. If you are ready to start, you have nothing to lose! We only want students who truly want to be here, and we will not commit you to a long-term contract. There are three different options for lessons at the Academy.
-30-minute private music lessons once a week are recommended for children through adults ($35/week).
-45-minute private music lessons once a week are recommended for students, teen through adult ($52.50/week).
-60-minute private music lessons once a week are recommended for serious students, teen through adult ($70.00/week). Some frequently asked questions:
What do you teach during music lessons? We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach. Each student is a unique person with different goals, background, learning style, and more. We make it a priority to get to know you or your child personally and find out what you would like to learn in your lessons. A nine-year old student who is starting ukulele lessons for the first time will have a much different course of study than a forty-nine year old who studied piano when they were younger. The goal of Loveland Academy of Music is to instill and foster a deep love of music, and to help you develop skills in a fun and interactive way so that you can start creating music on your own! You get to study the musical styles YOU enjoy, in a format that helps you retain and move forward. Are your instructors qualified? All of our instructors have college degrees or extensive teaching/performance experience in music. We choose our instructors for their warm personalities. Our teachers work well with both children and adults, and are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. They are friendly, patient, and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level. What our students are saying...
Loveland Academy of Music is one of the best teaching institutes in Loveland. The Academy is well managed and intentionally designed to grow each student with individual teaching methods. I am continually impressed with my children's excitement about spending time with their teacher and love that my girls are excited about music. As a parent the communication I receive and the different programs that Karen offers are top-notch and effective in making piano the one activity we won't consider giving up! Our entire family gains value from our participation in Loveland Academy of Music.

🎶 Simple Ways to Motivate Young Musicians to Practice 🎵
✨ Set a regular time each day for music (like after dinner). When it becomes a routine, practice feels natural.
✨ Instead of saying “go practice,” invite your child to play something for you.
✨ Make music easy to reach! Rather than keeping the guitar in its case, hang it on a wall hook in the living room.
✨ Encourage your child to share their music with friends, family, guests, pets, or even stuffed animals.
✨ Be part of the journey! Sit in on a lesson or check in with their teacher afterward to ensure you know exactly what they should work on at home.
✨ Practice right after their lesson. Reviewing the same day helps lock in what they’ve learned much more than waiting a few days.
✨ Listen, notice progress, and celebrate their effort with genuine praise.
✨ Let them teach you! Maybe you can even play a duet together!

This month, we’re excited to celebrate Hank, one of our dedicated piano students! Hank loves that the piano allows him to play such a wide variety of songs, and he says it has always been one of his favorite sounds to hear in music.
When it comes to listening, Hank enjoys classical music. Outside of practicing piano, he enjoys playing video games, reading, and learning new things.
One of Hank’s favorite memories from his time at the Academy was performing Phantom of the Opera at a recital alongside a live singer.
Looking toward the future, Hank hopes to master the piano and continue growing as a musician. He also plays viola and would love to become more skilled with it as well.
And as if balancing music and other interests wasn't enough, Hank recently graduated from high school with an Associate of Science degree and Summa Cum Laude honors, an incredible achievement! We are so proud of all that Hank has accomplished and are excited to see where his musical journey leads him next.
Below is a message from Hank's teacher, Vanisha:
Hank has been studying with me for over 3 years, and from the beginning, he demonstrated a strong musical intuition. He has a natural ability to recognize patterns by ear and uses music as a meaningful form of self-expression.
Throughout our time together, Hank has worked diligently to master the circle of fifths, strengthen his sight-reading skills, and explore non-Western music and tonalities. His repertoire has grown incredibly—from his early work in the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series to performing major works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Bartók.
Currently, Hank is studying music from Studio Ghibli, continuing his work with Bartók, and expanding his musicianship by learning the viola, where he is developing fluency in reading alto clef. He is diligent, intuitive, and hardworking, with an exceptional ear for identifying and understanding complex harmonies.
I am excited to see how Hank continues to grow beyond high school and how he will apply his musical skills and discipline to his future studies and career. It has been a true privilege to be his piano and viola teacher, and I am incredibly proud of his accomplishments.

Meet Vanisha, one of our wonderfully experienced and versatile instructors!
With more than 35 years of musical experience and 25 years as a music educator, Vanisha brings an incredible depth of knowledge, passion, and creativity to every lesson.
Originally from California, Vanisha has taught in Montessori classrooms, public and charter schools, after-school programs, and youth orchestras. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and completed extensive graduate coursework in Education and Advanced Curriculum Studies at Holy Names University in Oakland, California. She also holds a Colorado teaching license in Music and has training in the Kodály Method for Music Education.
Vanisha’s musical journey has taken her from studying clarinet with renowned musicians in California to continuing her studies abroad in Florence, Italy. Outside of teaching, she stays active in music by singing in a funk band and playing piano as an improv musician.
Her teaching style focuses on creating a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, growing at their own pace, and discovering their unique musical voice. She loves helping students learn through both technique and creativity — especially by learning favorite songs by ear and building strong musicianship skills through singing and playing.
When she’s not teaching or performing, Vanisha enjoys cooking, mindfulness and meditation, studying the stars, and spending time with her two sons. She also loves neo-soul and is inspired by artists like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John.
