The biggest red flag 🚩an AI tool or site can have for kids under 18.

Simply logging in.

If kids have to log in to an AI app or tool or site, you might as well throw the 🚩🚩🚩up!

Are there exceptions? Of course. But this is the simplest way to filter out tools kids shouldn’t be using.

Messing around with Sora 2. I use a skateboarding video all the time in presentations, and with a simple prompt now it’s me who is doing the skating (and falling). Fail forward, and have fun doing it!

Often, our growth and success have nothing to do with how good of a student we are (or were). Instead, it’s predicated on how confident we are in our own learning process. If we BELIEVE we can do great things, we are already on our way to DOING great things. However, as "The Obstacle is the Way" author Ryan Holiday likes to say, "Belief in yourself is overrated. Generate evidence."

One of our main roles as educators, and parents, is to help kids generate that evidence in a variety of ways.

We are living in a world that is distracted at every turn. It’s not just our kids, it is us. How do we navigate teaching, learning, and leading in an era of distraction?

Focus on the opportunities that arise from challenges.

They say it’s about the journey, not the final destination. But what they forget to mention is the journey is all about the company that you keep.

For the last six years I’ve had the pleasure of coaching my son Tucker and his friends on their quest to compete at the World Series of Lacrosse.

The destination: World Series East Qualifier Champs and World Series Final Four.

The journey: Hundreds of games, hundreds of practices, lots of wins, a bunch of losses, and countless memories.

The company: An amazing group of players, coaches, parents, siblings and extended family.

Sports can teach our youth so many important life lessons. It can open doors to opportunities. It helps you navigate the ups and downs of success and failure, of working hard, and believing in yourself and something greater than yourself.

But when it comes down to it. It’s all about the people. Spending time with my son. Family meals and hotel pools. Car rides where you talk about life and goals and dreams. And maybe we can all learn to find a destination worth pursuing, a journey worth traveling, and good company to make it all worthwhile.

Go Dukes!
