Recruit Class 2026-1 reached an exciting milestone last week with their first live fire training at Platte Valley Fire Protection District!
Recruits had the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom in a real-world training environment, developing skills in fire attack, hose handling, communication, teamwork, and scene safety. This is just the beginning and they will continue building on these fundamentals as they train to become skilled, confident firefighters ready to serve their communities.

Last week, Recruit Class 26-1 trained on one of the most critical fireground skills: search.
They learned primary search techniques, victim removal, and how to stay oriented and communicate in zero-visibility conditions. Recruits also focused on reading building layouts and identifying likely victim locations to make quick, effective decisions.
These skills are essential throughout their fire service careers and play a key role in saving lives. We’re proud of the continued hard work and progress from this class.

Recruit Class 26-1 has been very busy these past few weeks, continuing to build their skills and knowledge on the fireground.
Last week, recruits trained on critical fireground operations including vertical and horizontal ventilation, as well as our high-rise and “big water” modules. They practiced flowing and showing big water, 2 ½” hose maneuvers, high-rise operations, and deck gun applications.
These skills are essential in helping recruits develop the confidence, coordination, and situational awareness needed to operate safely and effectively during complex fire incidents.

Recruit Class 26-1 had a very busy and productive week in the academy last week!
They dove into critical skills including Forcible Entry, Water Supply, Rescue Task Force (RTF) operations, and Fire Prevention Systems. Each of these topics plays a vital role in preparing them for the demands of the fire service, and they rose to the challenge with determination and focus.
The hands-on training and classroom instruction continue to build their knowledge, confidence, and teamwork. Keep up the hard work recruits!

Last week marked Week 4 of Academy for our FRFC recruits! The class focused on ladder drills, working to build agility, strength, and a solid foundation of skills. Despite the crazy windy weather, they persevered and did an outstanding job tackling these challenging evolutions, which require endurance, coordination, and confidence.
Keep up the hard work, Recruit Class 26-1! We're proud of the progress you're making!

Recruit Class 26-1 is already in Week 3 of the academy, and they continue to learn and grow every single week. The pace of the academy is fast, and our recruits have been working hard to build the knowledge and skills they'll need to serve their communities.
Last week was packed with important training, including SCBA, fire extinguishers, loss control, ropes and knots, cancer prevention, SCBA confidence, public education, and emergency procedures. Each topic plays a critical role in helping recruits understand both the technical skills and safety practices required in the fire service.
This week, recruits continued building on that foundation by learning about building construction, victim handling, and fire behavior, key concepts that help firefighters understand how fires spread, how structures react to fire, and how to safely locate and remove victims.
We're proud of the dedication and effort these recruits are showing every day and look forward to watching them continue to grow throughout the rest of the academy.

18 new recruits representing 6 of our agencies have officially begun their journey into the fire academy. This first week has been filled with challenges, growth, and an incredible amount of learning; what we often call "drinking from the fire hose."
This week, recruits were introduced to academy expectations and standards, embraced discipline through drill and ceremony, and experienced the physical demands that the fire service places on both body and mind. Each day required them to step outside their comfort zones, lean on one another, and begin building the resilience and teamwork that define this profession.
We can't wait to see what the next 14 weeks have in store for them! Make sure to follow us on both Facebook and Instagram to keep up with their journey.
