21-8 WHAT A YEAR!!!

Never a good time for some things. But with the way the girls finished the season it's as good a time as any.

Monday night was my last game with the girls basketball team at Brown. I am so unbelievably proud of these girls! I'm not going to bore you with stats and records other than to say that these young ladies have won 36 games over the last 2 years and I am as proud of them as any team I've ever been associated with.

There are a few people I want to thank:

To Coach P - thanks for letting me be a part of your career for the last 13 years and especially these last 2 at the Brown School. I can never repay you for the experiences we have shared over the years.

To Lauren - thanks to the best 3 point shooting assistant coach in KHSAA history. It was fun having you around this year and you will be successful at whatever you decide to do. Just let me know if I can ever help.

To Justin - thanks for your support over the last 2 years. The Brown School is lucky to have you and I wish you continued success.

To Angela - thanks for attending so many games and letting the girls see that you care. It meant a lot to the girls to see you in the stands cheering them on!

To Adonis - thank you for being there every night and keeping the possession arrow correct (LOL private joke).

To Mike - Mr. Stats, thanks for doing the stat tracking. I know it can be hectic but I really appreciate you stepping up.

To the parents - thank you for letting me be a part of your daughters lives for the last 2 years. This is a special group of ladies. They fought through a lot and came thru it all with shining colors. Thanks for always being at games and supporting them unconditionally.

To the girls - I was going to tell you Monday night but there were so many emotions being experienced by us all, I didn't want to pile on. You were asked to do a lot of things this year and last that you weren't necessarily used to doing. You far exceeded our expectations. You are going to be successful at whatever endeavor you decide to pursue. Let me know if I can ever, EVER, do anything for you. I love you.

What a GREAT regular season!!!! Let me recap:
* The girls won 21 regular season games. A school record for wins by a Lady Bears basketball team.
* The girls won 3 tournaments this year (Louisville Collegiate Classic, Portland Christian Holiday Classic and the All "A" 7th Region tournament) also a school record.
* The girls lost only 7 regular season games, a school record for fewest losses in a season
* The girls were runners-up in the Christmas at the Capitol Tournament in Frankfort, best finish in that event in school history
* The girls were #1 in the state (All schools included) in team defense allowing only 35.2 points a game (http://khsaa.org/basketball/regularseason/2017/statsgit.htm)
* The girls finished tied for 13th (with Sacred Heart) in team rebound average per game (http://khsaa.org/basketball/regularseason/2017/statsgit.htm)
* The girls won 8 of their last 10 games and come into the post season on a roll

Come on out to Assumption tomorrow night (Monday) at 6:00 as the Lady bears go for another school record (advancing to the 7th Region Tournament).

I could go on but you get the picture. This is a very special group of young ladies. I hope you all are as proud of them as the staff is. We love this bunch; they play hard, they rebound, they don't give up, they give their opponents 32 minutes of chaos and they know how to win.

But most importantly, they are a great group of kids with bright futures in whatever endeavor the choose to pursue!

Love you girls - GO LADY BEARS!!!!!
