What an unforgettable day honoring the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord! Over 200 members of the SAR proudly marched in the Concord 250 parade under beautiful blue skies, surrounded by patriotic spirit and a deep sense of history.

It began with a moving ceremony in Minute Man National Historical Park, where we reflected on the courage and sacrifice of those who stood for liberty in 1775. One of the most powerful moments was crossing the Old North Bridge— retracing the very steps where the shot heard 'round the world was fired.

Thank you to everyone who came out to commemorate this milestone in our nation’s journey. We are honored to preserve and celebrate the legacy of our patriot ancestors.

Take a look at this amazing 18th century gunpowder tester donated by Derek Brown of the California Society! During the American Revolution gunpowder manufacturers produced low quality gunpowder due to the limited resources available. Using ingredients like soot, dirt, or dust to increase production led to inconsistent gunpowder explosive strength. Powder Testers were used to prevent faulty gunpowder from being shipped.

Our Story

The SAR is a historical, educational, and patriotic non-profit, United States 501(c)3, corporation that seeks to maintain and extend

* the institutions of American freedom
* an appreciation for true patriotism
* a respect for our national symbols
* the value of American citizenship
* the unifying force of e pluribus unum that has created, from the people of many nations, one nation and one people.

We do this by perpetuating the stories of patriotism, courage, sacrifice, tragedy, and triumph of the men who achieved the independence of the American people in the belief that these stories are universal ones of man's eternal struggle against tyranny, relevant to all time, and will inspire and strengthen each succeeding generation as it too is called upon to defend our freedoms on the battlefield and in our public institutions.

The SAR is a "lineage" society. This means that each member has traced his family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.
