Our 2nd and 3rd graders in Ms. R's class learned about contrast, pattern, and division of space using oil and chalk pastels to create mouth-watering, heart-shaped chocolates with a little help from Russell Stover. Huge applause to our 3rd and 4th graders for taking us on an incredible, heartwarming journey across the ocean with their performances of Disney's "Finding Nemo KIDS." We love that our Lower School curriculum offers our younger students the chance to dive into the world of musical theater alongside their classmates. This experience not only fosters collaboration but also reinforces concepts learned in the music room and enhances public speaking skills. Just keep swimming, young performers!

One of the tenets of a Francis Parker Progressive Education is “learning by doing.” There are always unexpected opportunities to practice learning in the moment. One such moment occurred this week when Billy Spalding took his 5th grade class to help change a flat tire in the rain for a lunch volunteer who needed assistance. Not only did students learn to change the tire with hands-on instruction, but their essential takeaway was that acts of kindness create more kindness.
