What happens when devices don’t speak the same language?
That’s where interoperability comes in.

This week, CableLabs brought operators and technology suppliers together at Interop·Labs to test how technologies from across the industry work together before they reach live networks.

In the latest Inside CableLabs, see how shared specifications, collaboration and hands-on testing help identify challenges earlier, reduce deployment risk and ultimately support more reliable broadband experiences.

Take a look inside. 👇

CableLabs was recently featured on Wireless Innovation Forum's "Beyond the Radio Dial" podcast, spotlighting a dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) research paper — co-written and sponsored by CableLabs — that won a best paper award 🏆

Mark Poletti (CableLabs) opens on how the work fits into our broader DSS efforts for 6G. Dr. Aylin Yener (Ohio State) connects it to her group's research on AI-native 6G. Jiayu Mao, PhD candidate who authored the paper, closes with a walkthrough of the methodology and results.

What if your broadband network could address a problem before it disrupted your video call, game or connected device?

CableLabs researchers are exploring AI-native network architectures that could help networks understand why conditions change, make intelligent decisions and continuously optimize performance. For operators, this could mean faster issue resolution, fewer service calls and lower operating costs. For customers, it could mean more reliable connected experiences.

CableLabs has named Mark Bridges president, effective Aug. 1, 2026, with plans for him to add the CEO title on Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding Phil McKinney after his 14 years leading the organization.

Bridges steps into this moment with 16 years at CableLabs and nearly three decades in communications and software, most recently as EVP and CTO guiding work in cloud-native architectures, network convergence and AI.

McKinney, who is retiring, joined CableLabs in 2012 from Hewlett-Packard, where he served as chief technology officer. Over his 14 years, he grew CableLabs from 19 North American operator members into a global organization of more than 50 companies, brought SCTE into the fold in 2021 and led the development of DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 4.0 technology. The patent portfolio grew from fewer than 70 patents to more than 1,000 under his watch. He will stay fully engaged through the end of 2026 and continue advising the board and Bridges in 2027, to support a seamless leadership transition,

"I am proud of what this team has accomplished and confident in where Mark will take it next," McKinney said.
