Other centered & Self Giving… Religion taught me the opposite & I had to discover God’s agape love myself in time.

Becoming a father really unlocked this revelation of the depth of ABBA’s love for us his children. When I thought about the love that entered my heart for my children suddenly, I realized that came from God. And Jesus asked us, “how much more does God (who is Love) love you?”

Now I get to share the love of God through the game of basketball to the world. 🙏

Every young athlete is sold the lie that purpose, identity & peace will be accomplished through “performance & a destination.” Let me explain…

That if you work hard enough, sacrifice enough, dedicate yourself enough… Then one day you’ll accomplish all your goals, one day that trophy/win/scholarship will make you enough & significant.

I appreciate Michael Phelps story & message, I even pray for that brother. 🙏 His life & amazing accomplishments are maybe the greatest example of this lie our young athletes are sold.

Peace, identity, happiness & fulfillment will never truly come from sports or accomplishment.

Remember: What you do is not who you are.

I put my brother on spot & he delivered 🙌 Always an honor to share the court & pour into the next generation with Greg & all my Maui brothers at camps. He was dropping 💎 all week.

What I love about these camps is the opportunity to share life lessons & minister to players & families beyond the game. Coach does an amazing job hosting these events for the Hawaiian islands & building up the basketball communities here 🙏🏀✝️
