One of the most important tools to development as a player is a (PDP) player development plan. It will organize & help you continue improving & growing every year.
The PDP is often the missing piece of the puzzle for young players to breakthrough. You must learn how to create one for your needs & game is so crucial. Most don’t even know where to start.
👉Comment “PG” I will teach you (players & parents) how to create a PDP & transform your game to become a player coaches trust.

🏀 99% OF PEOPLE IN BASKETBALL DON’T KNOW THIS STORY…
Basketball didn’t spread around the world simply because people loved the game.
A major part of its early global growth came through the YMCA and Christian missionaries.
James Naismith created basketball while teaching at the YMCA Training School. Soon after, YMCA leaders and missionaries learned the game and helped carry it into countries around the world.
Why?
Because basketball gave them a way to connect with people. Build relationships. Serve communities. And ultimately share the Gospel. 🌎✝️🏀
Over 130 years later, I believe that mission is still alive. James Naismith wasn’t just the inventor of basketball. In many ways, he was the original “Basketball Missionary.”
When asked about the purpose of a YMCA physical director, his answer was powerful:
“To win men for the Master through the gym.” — James Naismith
The man who invented basketball saw the GYM as a mission field.
Basketball is more than a game.
Basketball is a mission field.
Basketball is ministry.
👉That’s why we created the FREE Basketball Missions Community — a place to teach, equip and encourage coaches, trainers, players, missionaries and leaders who believe God can use this game for something bigger than basketball. Join here:

This is why so many point guards get FRUSTRATED. You spend hours doing ball-handling drills…
Your handle looks GREAT in workouts. Then the game starts…
An aggressive defender gets into you. Full court pressure.
You get sped up. You pick up your dribble.
You get trapped. The ball gets stolen.
Your confidence drops. And you’re thinking…
“Why aren’t all these drills working?!”
Because ball-handling skill and handling defensive pressure are TWO DIFFERENT SKILLS.
Ball handling develops your ability to control the basketball.
Handling pressure requires you to control yourself AND the defender while making decisions in real time. It’s Pace, Decision making, Basketball IQ, etc
You have to learn how to:
🏀 Create and maintain space
🏀 Protect the basketball with your body
🏀 Change speeds and play with pace
🏀 Read the defender’s positioning
🏀 Escape dead spots and traps
🏀 Stay composed when someone is trying to speed you up
🏀 Make the RIGHT decision while under pressure
You don’t need another fancy dribbling move.
You need to learn how to make the skills you already have translate when a defender is trying to take them away.
That’s exactly what we’re teaching inside my Point Guard Transformation Community.
I’ve added my complete Handling Defensive Pressure Program + NEW Defensive Pressure Masterclass, along with ball handling, film study, confidence training, basketball IQ, weekly live coaching and much more.
If you’re tired of looking great in workouts but struggling when the pressure comes in games…

This is a 💎 from krisdunn3 on how to maximize your value as a point guard. It highlights the importance of “specializing” in a skillset or role. So important for players to understand this & have the humility to do it.
âś… Be good (talent/skill)
âś… Great teammate (Leader)
âś… Be Available (Consistent)
âś… Master a Role
âś… Become a specialist
🙌 Give God the glory

Did you know… every skill executed is just an electric signal from your brain, to nervous system, to the physical act đź§
Stress âž• Overload = Growth
This is not a dribbling drill, it’s a drill to overload the nervous system. This will allow you to handle the ball at a much higher level. One of the techniques that really helped me develop when I was playing in college & overseas. Part of my training philosophy…

Why depression, anxiety & feeling LOST can become very real when an athlete stops playing…
For years, people may know you as:
“The basketball player.”
“The star.”
“The athlete.”
“The one with potential.”
From a young age, sports can become deeply connected to how we see ourselves. An Identity.
Your schedule revolves around it.
Your friendships come from it.
People praise you for it.
Your confidence comes from performing well.
Your dreams are built around how far the game might take you.
And then one day…it stops.
Maybe you get injured.
Maybe you get cut.
Maybe your college career ends.
Maybe you played professionally and eventually realize there isn’t another contract coming.
It can feel like a death because you’re not simply losing a sport.
You’re losing a version of yourself you’ve known for years. Not a chapter, the whole book.
That’s why I want young athletes to understand something I wish more of us learned earlier:
WHAT YOU DO IS NOT WHO YOU ARE.
Performance is what you do.
Identity is who you are.
Basketball or sports can be an incredible gift. Pursue greatness. Compete. Train hard. Chase the dream.
But don’t ask basketball to tell you what you’re worth.
And don’t believe you have to perform well enough to earn love from coaches, people, or even God.
Your deepest identity isn’t your points, scholarship offers, followers, championships or accomplishments.
You are a child of God. Loved before anything you ever did.
Created intentionally.
Known completely.
Made to be loved.
Basketball will eventually end for ALL of us.
But your purpose doesn’t.
🏀🙏 The game is something we get to do. It was never meant to become who we are.

I recently returned from the Philippines with Origins Basketball, where we filmed a documentary exploring the origins of this game and the mission behind it. It was part of the Philippines basketball missions trip.
And the deeper I’ve studied James Naismith, the more fascinated I’ve become.
Here are a few things most basketball players and coaches don’t know:
1. Naismith was a Preacher & PE teacher.
Before inventing basketball, James Naismith earned a theology degree. He was a minister, spiritual leader, teacher, physician and later a military chaplain.
2. Basketball was born inside a Christian educational movement.
In 1891, Naismith was challenged to create an indoor game at what was then the International YMCA Training School, today’s Springfield College.
The philosophy surrounding his work was about developing the BODY, MIND & SPIRIT and using education to serve others.
3. The Christian YMCA movement helped basketball spread around the world. I don’t.
What started with two peach baskets in a gym in Massachusetts became a global game as the YMCA movement expanded internationally. Christian missionaries carried the game around the world.
4. Naismith became the FIRST basketball coach at the University of Kansas.
He founded the Kansas basketball program and coached there from 1898–1907.
Think about that...
Before the billion-dollar basketball industry...
Before March Madness or the NBA...
Before packed arenas around the world...
There was a Christian minister and educator who believed athletics could be used to develop people and serve others.
Basketball can be more than a game.
It can be a mission field.
And I believe we’re being called to carry that mission into this generation.
