This morning, we gathered to celebrate our Opening Liturgy and the Feast of the Assumption, our namesake! βοΈ It was a beautiful Mass that perfectly encapsulated how Mary's "Yes!" parallels our theme this year, "Make it Matter." We reflected on how accepting the invitations put before us is one thing, but making it matter is what's truly important - just like Mary accepting God's invitation!
We were so grateful to Father Bill Hammer and Father Dustin Hungerford for leading us through Mass, and we are happy to announce that Father Hungerford is returning as our chaplain for the school year! π Thank you to all of our students, faculty, staff, and St. Raphael School - SRS Giants for such a wonderful Mass that set the tone for the year. We are all ready to MAKE IT MATTER in everything we do! π

Two honors. One incredible community. π
At Assumption, excellence isn't defined by a single accomplishment. It's reflected in every classroom, every opportunity, every relationship, and every student who walks through our doors. That's why we're especially proud of two recent honors:
β Cognia Accreditation with Merit β a distinction earned by only a small percentage of schools worldwide, with Assumption being the only Catholic high school in Kentucky to receive this recognition.
β Louisville's Best Private High School β voted by the community and awarded by The Courier Journal for the fifth consecutive year.
What makes these recognitions so meaningful is that they come from two very different places: educational experts who evaluate schools against the highest standards, and families and community members who experience the Assumption difference firsthand.
Together, they affirm what we already know: when a community is united by purpose, faith, and excellence, remarkable things happen. We couldn't be more grateful for our students, families, faculty, staff, and alumnae who make Assumption what it is every day. π

After their Freshman First Day, our Class of 2030 and their loved ones got to experience a brand new special moment together: Freshman Convocation Mass. βοΈ Catherine McAuley wrote, "A good beginning is of great importance," and this mass set the tone for our newest Rockets to experience a great school year and the best next four years of their lives.
In addition to celebrating mass, freshmen and their families heard from their class's Guidance Counselor, Dawn Deweese; homeroom partners: Janet Adkinson and Leigh Jackson; Principal, Martha Tedesco '90; and President, Mary Lang. They also received a pin featuring the Assumption crest and a yellow rose. The historic crest was created in 1955, Assumption's beginning, and the yellow rose has been an important symbol for the Sisters of Mercy since it was Catherine McAuley's favorite flower. ππΉ
The Freshman Convocation Mass parallels the Baccalaureate Mass that these students will celebrate in four years. The pin and rose anticipate the senior retreat pin and rose they will be given at graduation. We thank each Rocket and family for being a part of this beautiful evening, and we hope you are excited for the incredible journey ahead! π

Today is our Seniors' Last First Day π©· It's hard to believe our Class of 2027 are beginning their final year as Assumption students. They will learn what it means to be an AHS Senior: role models to our underclasswomen, sisters to each other, and our leaders in Faith, Compassion, Integrity and Excellence.
They have already made a huge impact on our community, but this year they are cultivating the legacy they will leave when they go beyond AHS. It's time to make memories, push limits, and take care of each other all the while. We know they will make it the best year yet! π

BEST FIRST DAY EVER!!! πβ
From remembering who we are to "we don't do that here!" to dance breaks and special announcements π, we couldn't be happier with the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
This year's school theme is "Make it Matter," and it stands as a daily reminder for every person in the Assumption community to put love, effort, care, and more into what we do this year. There is truly so much to look forward to! Let's make it a great year, Assumption! π
