The UofL guitar studio had a great time at the Northern Lights Music Festival!

Our students continue their travel this summer with a trip to the Northern Lights Music Festival in northern Minnesota. Guitar students Asher Wedin and Griffen Farnsley participated in lessons, masterclasses and recitals. Asher also played several guitar parts with the orchestra, and Griffen was this year’s teaching assistant. We’re proud that our students play a part in sharing the work of UofL music students across the country.

Welcome Carlos Bedoya- Guitarist!

The School of Music is excited to announce that Carlos Bedoya is our new Assistant Professor of Guitar. He says, “I am very excited for the opportunity to lead the guitar studio and organize the annual UofL guitar festival. I feel very fortunate to be at a place with a strong guitar foundation - with a significant presence of guitar in local school programs, an active and dedicated guitar society, and a vibrant community full of guitar enthusiasts. I am very much looking forward to helping make Louisville and UofL an international reference for excellence in guitar artistry.”
Our continued work together will inspire students from around the world to enjoy the guitar. Congrats, Carlos, and Go Cards!

Joins us tomorrow for our final masterclass of the semester at University of Louisville School of Music with Alex Komodore! We will be in room 142 from 3-5pm. Alex Komodore is internationally recognized as a guitar performer, scholar and teacher. His European Tour in 2019 included performances and teaching opportunities in Turkey, Greece, France and Scotland.

Our professor Carlos Bedoya- Guitarist is performing a faculty recital this coming Saturday at 7:30. Don't miss it!

Our faculty are extremely hardworking and talented. Come out to see Professor Carlos Bedoya’s faculty recital on April 11. The performance will include works by Bach, Assad, Barrios, Gabriel Evens, Sid King, and more. Professor Bedoya will be joined by colleagues such as: Davis Hale (saxophone), Cristina Bedoya (piano), Katherine Donner (voice), Sid King (bass), and Paul York (cello).

What a joy to have the great Lynn McGrath here University of Louisville School of Music. She gave a wonderful masterclass and concert expressing her wisdom and experience with every action.
