Steph Buehrle, M.A., LPC, NCC, is a compassionate and solution-focused Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in neurodiversity-affirming care for gifted children, teens, and adults. Stephenie’s comprehensive background includes a Master of Arts in Counseling and licensure as a Professional School Counselor. She employs a strengths-based approach that integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities like Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She empowers clients, including those who are Gifted, anxious, ADHD, ASD, and Twice-Exceptional (2e), to embrace their differently-wired brain and achieve enhanced well-being by developing essential skills in executive function, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy.
Stephenie's specialized expertise with gifted and neurodivergent populations was honed during her six years in public schools, where she served as a Gifted & Talented Social Emotional Learning Counselor. In this pivotal role, she provided direct counseling and critical tiered-interventions to diverse students (grades 6-12). This work established her as a trusted and tireless advocate for students and a valuable partner to families, educators, and community resources. Her commitment extends to professional outreach, as she develops and facilitates psychoeducational workshops on topics like Brain Science and Emotional Regulation and Unlocking Motivation.
Her philosophy aligns closely with the authentic essence of SAGE. Stephenie is deeply committed to collaborative care and believes in gathering with deep, authentic professionals who value difference and are dedicated to lifelong learning. She aims to create a therapeutic space for her clients that is safe and deeply connected, allowing them to feel seen and heard, to grow more confident, and to further engage in pursuits that are worthy of their greatness.
On a personal level, Stephenie brings an intimate understanding of neurodivergent dynamics, as she, her partner, and their two teen boys are all twice-exceptional (2e). She recently embraced the change of small-town living on Colorado's Western Slope with her family and two dogs, Rio and Yadi. They are an avid baseball family—Stephenie has enjoyed cheering, coaching and providing mental skills coaching for over a decade. When not at the ball field, the family loves being outdoors hiking, camping, hunting, and appreciating the local farming and ranching community.
