Math Update: We have had a rough time with perimeter and area. Several of us are still having a hard time remembering whether to add up all of the sides (perimeter) or multiply length times width (area). We will keep working on this in small groups for those students who have not mastered it yet. We will be moving on to elapsed time next week. This can also be rough if students cannot tell time on an analog clock. Please have your child tell you what time it is several times a day using a watch or clock that is analog, not digital. This will make elapsed time so much easier for them. Your child will be bringing home TCAP practice over the next few weeks as testing time approaches. I will be assessing DEA data to determine what your child needs to work on to master the areas he/she need the most help. I will be preparing lessons and review activities accordingly. Thanks in advance for the help you already give and continue to give your child to make him/ her a success in third grade math. Mrs. Clark:)

I just wanted to give everyone a head's up that in ELA for the next five weeks we are going to focus on TN State Standards. This is review material for the students but of course, material can be forgotten so, I am pretesting and reteaching where it is needed. The students will be given grades on this material. Each group is working on different materials and therefore assessments will vary. Still expect a note on Thursdays as to what assessment materials will be covered on the exam on Friday. *Hint* The test materials will look very familiary to them! It's the exact same materials we are looking at in class. FOUR WEEKS UNTIL TCAPS!

Topics 7 & 8 Math test tomorrow. Students should bring home a study guide to work on and study. I did tell them they could check their answers with a calculator at home when they finish. We will begin fractions when we come back to school on January 6th. We will still be working on multiplication drills. So have them work on it over the holidays. No math logs after tomorrow until we come back.

12/2 through 12/6: Please see the words and information from 11/18-11/26 to work on this week. We needed more review than I thought we would and therefore will start unit three this week.

There is alot going on this week!
Please remember:
Today- We went to the book fair, the rotary club donated every third grade student a dictionary and tonight is our big performance! We hope to see you there.
Make sure and get plenty of rest tonight because there is a big DEA test for Reading/Language Arts in the morning!
On 12/5 we will have the Math DEA.
On 12/6 we are headed to see a live ballet/play! This does fit with Reading/Language arts. Students have to be able to recognize the genre of a play/drama! We are very excited!

UPDATE on this week's progress: We really needed to stop and do some work on plurals and possessives this week so we did not get to move on to the new unit yesterday. Therefore we will hold off and begin unit 5 on the Monday after Thanksgiving in conjunction with DEA week. That means no weekly tests next week but we are working on our end of unit 2 test. THANKS! Everybody have a great weekend!

11/18/2013

11/18-11/26: We are doing Week 5 of Unit 2 which is Review Week. We will only do the review Monday-Wednesday and we will begin Unit 3 on Thursday of this week and continue this until the 26th. This will help since we will lose a few days on Thanksgiving week. I will go ahead and give the words for later this week though.
