PTA and. At Chancey Elementary School, we believe that everyone has the right to experience the joy of learning. Our mission is to nurture the 21st century learner in a safe, diverse, caring and mutually respected environment. Building relationships is extremely important to our staff because we believe that students excel with those to whom they can relate well. We continue to improve our craft so that ALL students achieve at high levels. Instruction is differentiated and individualized to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of the child. Teaching is intentional and our teachers our passionate about their profession. The 21st Century student is valued and their interests and learning styles are integrated into engaging instruction. Students feel connected to their learning because teaching is relevant and personal. Our special area teachers provide monthly opportunities for students to participate in drama, art, wellness, technology and show choir within the school day. All students have access to a rigorous curriculum. Several sources of data are
used to ensure educational equity for all students. Staff members use a variety of assessment tools to analyze student data to find gaps in achievement by race, gender, and socioeconomic status. These assessment results are used to guide individualized instruction .Teachers are members of a Professional Learning Community and meet frequently to discuss student learning and instruction. They review and analyze student work with colleagues to prescribe the next academic steps for each student, and they research best practices to be utilized in their classrooms. Teachers are also trained in culturally relevant teaching practices, accommodating the needs of diverse learners, individual learning styles, multiple intelligences, and engagement strategies. All teachers ensure that students receive instruction that is developmentally appropriate. Our Instructional Leadership Team and Site-Based Decision Making Council focus on maximizing student success. Our CSIP is the framework for our goals written with specific strategies to enhance learning. Chancey offers several extracurricular activities for our students. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are involved in academic day clubs provided by the special area staff. These clubs focus dance, drama, art, choir, fitness, and technology. Additionally, students may participate in band, orchestra, chess, safety patrol, Spelling Bee, basketball, cheerleading, Young Rembrandts, Mad Science, Spanish and Brikz for Kid. Chancey Elementary has a highly qualified staff committed to continuous professional development. We have three National Board Certified teachers and several working toward this accomplishment, a Milliken Award winner, Kentucky Social Studies Teacher of the Year, WalMart Teacher of the Year, and several Excel Award winners. Many of our teachers have attended national conferences and have served as presenters nationally and for the district. We have an award winning PTA that volunteers and works tirelessly to support our school. We embrace and celebrate our students' diversity and encourage them to do the same with their peers. At Chancey, we are a family; we believe that everyone is vital to our success and together we can do great things. This feeling of pride and belonging is clearly evident as you enter through the doors of Chancey Elementary School.
