Young girl reunites with Louisville nurses a year after dog attack 01/23/2025

Just days before her first birthday, Emersyn Haas endured a devastating dog attack that left her family in shock. Thanks to the extraordinary care she received at Norton Children's Hospital, Emersyn has made a remarkable recovery. Now, at two years old, she recently reunited with the nurses who became like family during her healing journey. We are extremely proud of Madisen Bowling and Kelsey Hargadon from Bellarmine University Nursing. Their compassion and expertise have made a significant difference, highlighting the resilience and life-changing impact of dedicated caregivers.

Grant to infuse character education into core curriculum 01/22/2025

Bellarmine University is enhancing its commitment to character education with the help of a $50,000 grant from the Lilly Foundation. This funding supports a university-wide effort to incorporate the life and work of Thomas Merton into a revised core curriculum launched this fall.

“Character at Bellarmine is based upon educating the whole person to realize their highest potential as part of an interconnected world. It's critically important as far as what kind of graduates we are putting out there—people who have integrity and who look at the world with empathy. Someone others can trust and who have the capacity to lead.” - Dr. Jon Blandford, assistant provost.

“With Exercise Science, you really develop critical thinking skills, and whenever you’re working in a lab setting, you’re working with your peers, so you’re able to work on teamwork and bonding with everybody, so I got to be more communicative and comfortable talking to everybody. I was very shy before coming to Bellarmine, and now I’m a tour guide, and I talk to people all day. So, Exercise Science has helped me both professionally and personally”. - Caitlin Perry

Mer-people and a meaningful ‘more’ 01/10/2025

“Subsequent technological leaps aren’t going to come from a shiny new tangible thing as much as they’ll come from your ability to harness the unseen power that now dwells within any device that can access the Internet. The more will be in the method, not the machine itself.”
