LFPL Summer Reading is back... and it’s WILD!
Summer is the perfect time to keep kids reading, growing, and learning. Reading over the summer helps students stay engaged, avoid summer learning loss, and discover the joy of reading for fun.
The Louisville Free Public Library’s Summer Reading Program has been a Louisville tradition for nearly a century, connecting children and teens with great books, exciting prizes, and plenty of motivation to keep turning pages all summer long. Public libraries play such an important role in putting books into students’ hands and making reading accessible for every family.
Summer Reading May 30 and runs through August 1.

Get ready to dive into a great book this summer! Each class has a required summer reading book that students should have completed by the first day of school. We hope this is a fun way for our Mustangs to keep their reading skills sharp while enjoying a great story over summer break!
Families may check the book out from the local library or purchase a copy from a bookstore or online retailer.
Happy reading, Mustangs!

This is too good not to share! During the final week of school, our second and third graders were excited to partner with Wesley Manor assisted living facility on Manslick Road. After creating special cards for the residents, students visited to read stories, share conversations and learn more about the life and experiences of the residents! As they shared, smiles and kindness with the residents, we are reminded of Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before others.” Such an incredible experience for everyone that day!

Wrapping up the school year with a shoutout to passion projects!
Our students’ Passion Projects were a beautiful reflection of creativity, curiosity, and meaningful learning throughout the school year! From collaborative classroom projects in K–4 to individualized explorations in grades 5–8, students showcased their passions while growing as researchers, creators, and compassionate leaders. We are proud of the dedication, imagination, and heart they poured into their work!
