Despite the summer heat, volunteers from Equifax spent the day clearing weeds and debris across our campus. 🌿

Their hard work helped create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for the youth and families we serve. We're incredibly grateful for their dedication and for the many volunteers who make a difference, one project at a time.

Thank you, Equifax!

A huge shoutout to Eagle Scout candidate Ryan Offett of Troop 175 at St Edward Catholic Church for leading a donation drive in support of Boys & Girls Haven!

Thanks to Ryan and the generosity of our community, we received 52 suitcases and 38 duffel bags and backpacks.🧳🎒

Bags like these ensure that foster youth have a dignified way to carry their belongings.

"As a trauma-informed play therapist, I work with children, adolescents, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral challenges, family stress, grief, and life transitions. My approach combines evidence-based therapeutic techniques with creativity, movement, play, nature, storytelling, and connection because I believe healing doesn’t always happen sitting in a chair talking about feelings. Sometimes healing looks like building, creating, laughing, moving, and learning how to trust yourself again."

Last month, several youth from Boys & Girls Haven’s Transitional Living Program attended the 2026 Youth Empowerment Conference hosted by Kentucky RISE in Lexington. The two-day event brought together youth in care and caregivers from across the state for learning, connection, and personal growth.

Conference highlights included inspiring keynote presentations from Miss Kentucky and author/content creator Chaya Milchtein, a screening of Their Truth: An Aging Out Story, and a variety of interactive workshops focused on life skills, self-advocacy, and future planning. Youth also had the opportunity to network with peers and connect with organizations dedicated to supporting young people as they transition into adulthood.

The experience was especially meaningful for Boys & Girls Haven youth Dontae, who was honored with the Youth Empowerment Conference Attendee Award in recognition of his active participation and engagement throughout the conference.

“I really enjoyed the youth conference and appreciated the chance to reconnect with old friends while also meeting new people. I learned a lot and gained valuable information about available resources, and I’m already looking forward to attending again next year. I was truly surprised, happy, and excited to receive the award."

Pride Month may be over, but making sure every young person feels supported and accepted is something we focus on all year long.

To our direct care staff, volunteers, therapists, and community partners - Thanks for showing up for the kids ❤️🏳️‍🌈
