Leadership and the Power of “Constancy of Purpose”

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned about leadership and success is the principle of *constancy of purpose*. It’s not just a wealth-building strategy; it’s a cornerstone of effective leadership.

Years ago, in the late ’90s, I found myself in an AOL chatroom called the *Millionaires Group.* After observing for a while, I asked the question that many of us wonder: *“What does it take to be a millionaire?”*

Their answer was simple yet profound: *“Have constancy of purpose and work 80 hours a week.”*

At the time, I didn’t fully understand the depth of this. But later, while reading James 1:4-8, I saw the connection:

*“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”*

When I studied the word *patience,* I discovered it translates to *constancy of purpose.* In leadership terms, it means having a clear vision, staying focused on your mission, and being steadfast, no matter the distractions or challenges.

As a leader, you set the tone for your team. If you’re double-minded—wavering between priorities or lacking clarity—your team will feel like a ship tossed by the wind, unsure of its direction. But when you lead with *constancy of purpose*, you inspire confidence, discipline, and momentum.

Great leaders:
- Define the purpose clearly. Everyone on the team should know the *why* behind the work.
- Model consistency. Your actions and focus set the standard.
- Stay the course. Even when it’s tough, finishing the task builds trust and long-term success.

Leadership isn’t just about doing the work—it’s about leading others to fulfill a shared purpose with patience and perseverance.

So, ask yourself: Do you lead with *constancy of purpose*? Are you staying true to the vision, even when the path gets hard?

True leaders build wealth—in character, in impact, and yes, even financially—by embodying this principle every day.

You Missed It!🙁 Gold hit an all-time high, and the setup was what we call a **Perfect Storm trade**. While it wasn’t a textbook example, it was close enough for me to **take a short trade**—and the results speak for themselves.

As a leader, I see people moving to and fro, from day to day, based on their mood. I mean all kinds of people from middle aged businessmen to young stay at home mommas.

The problem with following your mood is that your mood changes. Our feelings are fluid, they have no inherent direction except the direction WE apply to them. If you pour water on your countertop - it’s going to go just anywhere, everywhere! If you pour water on a dish, you can pick that dish up and tilt it and make that water go where you want it to go (say, into the sink or into a thirsty plant across the room).

That’s what I mean by fluid - it goes where it wants unless YOU give it direction. Our moods are the same way. That’s why we cannot follow mood if we want to succeed in life. When I say succeed, I’m not just talking about money or status.
I’m telling you that you won’t be successful in ANY of your ventures by following your mood.

A plan is how you determine your direction. Better yet, according to scripture (Habakkuk 2:2), a WRITTEN plan.

Our plan gives us the direction. We are always gonna have feelings, probably a different mood every day - BUT with a PLAN, we can tilt that mood in the right direction and move forward, on target, despite how we feel each day. The plan becomes the litmus test that we apply to every changing mood or feeling we experience.
Does this feeling, this conversation, this mindset serve me in the current plan for my life? If it doesn’t line up with the direction of the plan - you better tilt it!

Create your plan.
Don’t follow your mood.
Tilt it in the right direction.
Focus your feelings.
Move only according to the plan.

Action is a word that you must embrace! Doing the things that the 99% of other people will not do is what puts you in the 1%.
