This summer, I have the incredible honor of being part of the Summer Literacy Lab — a four-week collaboration between Wichita State University, Wichita Public Schools, KSDE, and local nonprofit partners with one shared mission:
Helping children unlock the power of literacy.
Each week, I get a front-row seat to what happens when a community comes together around kids.
I see:
✨ K–2 students strengthening foundational literacy skills through explicit, evidence-based instruction
✨ Children building confidence as they experience the power of “I can do this”
✨ Future educators gaining real-world experience through hands-on learning, coaching, and mentorship
✨ Teachers, faculty, and community partners working together to create opportunities for every child to thrive
As a literacy researcher, professor, and advocate, I know literacy is more than learning to read.
Literacy is access.
Literacy is confidence.
Literacy is opportunity.
And as Dr. Universe, this is the heart behind my Called to Champion platform:
Because every child deserves someone in their corner — someone who believes in them, invests in them, and helps them see what is possible.
Whether I’m wearing a sash, preparing future teachers, conducting research, or sitting beside a child discovering the joy of reading…
The mission remains the same:
Creating spaces where children connect, grow, and thrive.
Because connection changes everything.

From Kansas to China, one truth became even clearer: the values that change lives are universal.
As I traveled across China with my daughter, I was reminded that while languages, traditions, and landscapes may differ, the things that connect us are remarkably the same.
Everywhere we went, I saw the power of education, the importance of mentorship, and the impact of community service—the very pillars of Dr. World Productions.
These aren't just pageant themes. They are principles that transcend borders, cross oceans, and unite people across continents.
Education creates opportunity.
Mentorship creates belonging.
Community service creates impact.
Whether in a classroom in Kansas, a city in China, or anywhere in between, investing in others is a language everyone understands.
One of the greatest gifts of this journey was experiencing it alongside my daughter—learning together, exploring together, and being reminded that the world is both incredibly vast and beautifully connected.
The more I travel, the more convinced I become that our differences make the world interesting, and our shared humanity is what makes it meaningful.
No matter where life takes you, choose to learn. Choose to lift others. Choose to serve.
Those choices have the power to change lives—and they work in every corner of the world.

Three weeks from now, Dr. Keller and I will be boarding a plane for what I already know will be one of the most meaningful journeys of our lives—China
From walking the streets of Beijing and Shanghai to standing on the historic stones of the Great Wall of China, this trip is more than travel… it’s a living reflection of everything Dr. World Productions stands for.
💗Education — because learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. It lives in culture, history, language, and global perspective.
💗Mentoring — because some of the most powerful moments happen side by side, sharing experiences that shape identity, purpose, and possibility.
💗Community Service — because when we expand our worldview, we deepen our responsibility to serve, connect, and uplift others across borders.
This journey is about legacy.
About showing other women who are seeking to find their sparkle again that the world is both their classroom and their calling.
Grateful for the opportunity. Grateful for the mission. And most of all, grateful to experience this with my daughter.

Happy International Women’s Day!
Today we celebrate the strength, brilliance, and resilience of women everywhere. From classrooms to boardrooms, from homes to communities, women are shaping the future with courage and compassion.
As a woman in education, leadership, and service, I believe this deeply:
“When women rise, communities rise.”
Let’s continue lifting one another, mentoring the next generation, and proving that intelligence, kindness, and purpose are powerful forms of beauty.

This weekend filled my heart in the best way.
Honoring Black History Month alongside Top Ladies of Distinction, the incredible Top Teens of America, and standing in community, service, and purpose reminded me why legacy work matters. Black history is living history — it’s leadership, resilience, brilliance, service, and community care in action every single day.
I was especially grateful to share this space with my sister-friend, Dr. World. Watching her pour into communities, uplift young people, and lead with authenticity, compassion, and excellence is powerful.
Our friendship is rooted in purpose, service, and the shared belief that when women support each other, entire communities rise.
Service isn’t just something we do — it’s who we are.
And honoring history means committing to building a future where every young person knows they are seen, valued, and capable of greatness.
Grateful. Inspired. And more committed than ever.

I had the joy of spending the evening with families at Washington Elementary for a Family Literacy Night focused on the power of connection through reading. We talked about dialogic reading—a simple, interactive way of reading with children that turns storytime into a conversation. Parents learned how asking open-ended questions, talking about pictures, and encouraging children to share their thoughts helps build oral language, vocabulary, and listening comprehension.
The night was a beautiful reminder that families are a child’s first teachers, and small, intentional moments at home can make a lifelong difference in learning.
