It’s August, which means it’s the start of the new fencing season—what better way to start it off than with a tournament! On Saturday some of our club members took part in the Bluegrass State Games here in Louisville.

Special shoutout to Madison Bates for an outstanding performance in the Senior Mixed Épée event and earning her E26 rating! Way to go!

Here’s a summary of how our LFC fencers did:

Unrated Mixed Épée
- Madison Bates: Tied for 3rd Place🥉

Senior Mixed Foil
- Reagan Redemann: 1st Place🥇
- Shawn Redemann: 2nd Place🥈
- John Tran: Tied for 3rd🥉

Senior Mixed Épée
- Alexander Lazaro Duarte Napoles: 2nd Place🥈
- Shawn Redemann: 5th Place
- John Tran: 7th Place
- Madison Bates: 8th Place (Earned E26!)
- Ross McNary: 10th Place

Huge congratulations to Louisville Fencing Center's Edward Depp on earning dual national honors from USA Fencing! Edward has been named to the USA Fencing All-Academic First Team and received an Honorable Mention to the All-American Team for the 2025-26 season.

These prestigious awards recognize outstanding high school fencers who excel at the highest levels both in the classroom and on the strip. To achieve First Team All-Academic status, Edward maintained a GPA of 3.85 or higher and ranked in the top 25% of his class.

What makes Edward truly stand out is his leadership off the strip. He has been the driving force behind successfully restarting the Trinity High School fencing program, and he has championed local efforts to increase the visibility of parafencing here in Louisville.

Edward, your dedication, hard work, and commitment to inspiring a new generation of fencers make these honors richly deserved. We at the Louisville Fencing Center are incredibly proud of you! 🤺🏆🎉
