¿Sabías? Cinco de mayo edition.
Cinco de mayo is a day that is celebrated in some parts of México but not all. Cinco de mayo is a celebration to commemorate the winning of "La batalla de Puebla," which was a battle that the Mexican army won against the French.
IT IS NOT MÉXICO'S INDEPENDENCE DAY! México's Independence Day is September 16th. 🇲🇽
It is widely celebrated across the U.S. and many local Mexican establishments throw fun celebrations.

¡Feliz viernes! Happy Friday!
Welcome to our "¿Sabías?" posts where we learn some of the differences between Spanish speaking countries.
While learning a new language, it's important to learn cultural norms as well. There are 20 different countries that list Spanish as their official language. This leaves a lot of room for cultural differences amongst them.
Earlier in the week, we learned the rules and different uses of tú and usted. However, these rules are not 100% adhered to by all countries.
For example, in Colombia, they use usted to address their friends and family.

An interesting article in regards to how our brains function when we are bilingual.
How our brains cope with speaking more than one language
Speaking a second or even a third language can bring obvious advantages, but occasionally the words, grammar and even accents can get mixed up.

Good afternoon! ¡Buenas tardes!
I have to share this very proud moment for me because even though I know I am good at what I do, having someone else acknowledge it feels amazing.
I received this text from a client yesterday and I couldn't be any prouder of my student. She is doing amazing and it is showing in her class. 👏🏼💖
Messages like this are why I love teaching language.

Wishing a successful first day of school for all of my friends who are parents and/or teachers and having to face either NTI or in-person classes. Remember: This is new and no one has this down pat. Everyone is learning together. Don't be hard on yourself. No one is perfect!
Good luck everyone! Or as they say in Spanish, ¡Buena suerte!
