Great News for Future Nurse Anesthetists!

A generous $1 million grant will provide critical scholarships for students in the Bellarmine University Juneja Nurse Anesthesia Program, thanks to the support of Anesthesia Services of Kentucky and the new Healthcare Workforce Investment Fund (HWIF). This funding will help fill the growing healthcare needs in the Louisville Metro area!

This past weekend, Bellarmine’s Nurse Anesthesia Residents and faculty attended the Kentucky Association of Nurse Anesthetists (KyANA) 2024 Fall Scientific Meeting.

We were honored to join anesthesia professionals from across Kentucky for a weekend of learning, networking, and professional growth.

From engaging sessions to meaningful connections with industry leaders, we are excited to bring new insights and best practices back to our program.

Dr. Boone Simmons serves as the Assistant Program Administrator and Clinical Education Coordinator for the Doctor of Nursing Practice-Nurse Anesthesia Program.

He also continues to practice as a CRNA in Bowling Green, KY.

𝔽𝕦𝕟 𝔽𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕤

I am an avid outdoorsman. When I’m not at Bellarmine, or working in the hospital, my wife and I love to ride and train horses. I also grow over twenty different pepper varieties every summer.

I have several colleagues that are Bellarmine alum and they have all shared their remarkable experiences while attending the University. This esteemed reputation was evident to me from my first interaction with Bellarmine.

There is a sense of family among the staff and students that fosters everyone’s success. I am honored to be a member of the Bellarmine family, contributing to and upholding the values that make this University truly outstanding.

Dr. Carly Mitchell joined Bellarmine University in March 2022 as the Founding Program Administrator for the Doctor of Nursing Practice-Nurse Anesthesia Program.

She also serves as Chief Nurse Anesthetist for the Obstetric Anesthesia department at Norton Healthcare when she is not at Bellarmine.

𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝔹𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕒𝕣𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕖?

Bellarmine University has an amazing reputation for graduating top-notch students. I came to Bellarmine to build upon this reputation by developing the preeminent Nurse Anesthesia program in the region. I am excited to embark on the role of Program Administrator working collaboratively with our clinical partners, students, faculty, and leadership.

BU’s Nurse Anesthesia Faculty attended the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology’s (AANA) Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators (ADCE) Meeting in Orlando, FL, this weekend. We had a great time learning and networking with an amazing group of CRNA educators!!

We were also excited to visit our very Simulation Director, Dr. Matthew Harmon, in the Exhibitor’s Hall as he debuted his new Anesthesia-specific Educational Software, Synesthesia CRNA 🎉👏🏽

Bellarmine University now offers a 𝑫𝒐𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 degree with a specialization in 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝑨𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒂.

This 36-month, 101-credit hour program is designed for post-BSN students seeking doctoral preparation for advanced practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Thanks to a formal partnership with Norton Healthcare, Nurse Anesthesia Residents (NARs) can complete all clinical education requirements within some of the region’s leading hospitals without having to travel outside the Louisville area.
