It's been 10 years since our groundbreaking production of Harold and the Purple Crayon! 🖍️✨

​Kentucky cellist and songwriter Ben Sollee composed the original score and performed live in this innovative, interactive show—where children drew along with Harold on tablets and took home a printed copy of the play featuring their very own artwork. It was a true theatrical feat of state of the art interactive technology!

🎭 As early as the 1920s, the Junior League of Louisville recognized the need for local children to experience the magic of live theatre. In 1946, The Louisville Children's Theatre was founded by these visionary women. While our name has changed, our mission to bring superior theatrical performances and arts education to the Louisville Metro area has never wavered.

Some of Louisville's biggest stars were StageOne kids first! 🎭⭐

​Before Diane Sawyer was anchoring the evening news, she was ruling the StageOne stage as the Snow Queen in 1957’s The Snow Queen and the Goblin. That same year, Academy Award nominated Ned Beatty was running our tech crew, and mystery author Sue Grafton was treading our stage. ⭐

​For 80 years, spanning our origins as the Louisville Children’s Theatre through our merger with the Walden Conservatory-- we’ve been a launching pad for legendary talent. Now, it’s time to celebrate the storied past that brought us here and to support a bright future. 🎉

StageOne is celebrating our 80th anniversary, December brings our 29th production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" to the Bomhard Theater! (And our Producing Artistic Director Andrew D. Harris' 15th time directing!) In honor of this milestone, we’re calling all former cast and crew who helped make this show a Louisville holiday tradition. ✨
