A little peek into learning with our youngest Giants. 💚🤍

Kindergarten and first grade were busy today with small-group learning. Students worked on reading, phonics and math with hands-on activities, games and plenty of practice.

Kindergarten also made a stop in music class, where they got to work on the xylophones. 🎶

Fifth grade took a trip back to ancient Egypt this week! 🇪🇬

As part of their study of ancient Egyptian civilization, students made their own canopic jars while learning how the ancient Egyptians used them during the mummification process.

These faces say they took the assignment VERY seriously!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Ben McKernan! 💚🤍

As our IT Director, Mr. McKernan has quickly become someone our teachers and students know they can count on. Whether he’s troubleshooting a technology problem, helping in our middle school classrooms or finding ways to keep our school moving forward, he brings knowledge, patience and humor to everything he does.

If something isn’t working, Mr. McKernan somehow always seems to know exactly what to do. More importantly, he never makes anyone feel like their question is too small or their problem is too frustrating. He’s approachable, calm and always willing to jump in and help.

He’s also played an important role in improving and updating technology throughout St. Raphael, making things easier and more efficient for so many.

Mr. McKernan’s quick wit, easygoing personality and genuine kindness make him such a valued part of our school and parish community.

Today, on Priesthood Sunday, we’re especially grateful for Fr. Tony Cecil.

Each Wednesday, Fr. Tony celebrates school Mass with our Giants and helps lead them in the faith that is at the heart of St. Raphael School.

His ministry extends far beyond our campus. As pastor of St. Raphael and director of the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Fr. Tony has made helping children, teens and young adults grow in their relationship with Jesus an important part of his priesthood.

We’re grateful our Giants have the opportunity to celebrate Mass with him each week and to see firsthand what it looks like to say “yes” to a life of faith and service.

Thank you, Fr. Tony, for your vocation, your leadership and the ways you help our students grow in faith. Happy Priesthood Sunday! 💚

Today, we also give thanks for all priests and pray for continued vocations to the priesthood.

Nearly 500 Giants each added their own little piece to this Priesthood Sunday banner, with messages, drawings and words of appreciation for our priests.

Our students were so proud to see the finished banner this morning, and hearing Fr. Tony share at the end of Mass how much it meant to him made it even more special. 💚🤍

Happy Birthday to Ms. Jansen Gottbrath! 💚🤍

Although she’s new to St. Raphael this year, Ms. Gottbrath has already made such a warm impression on our community. Her smile truly lights up a room, and she brings a calm, positive presence wherever she goes.

As our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd teacher, Ms. Gottbrath has a gentle and patient approach that children naturally respond to. She makes them feel comfortable, cared for and safe as they learn and grow in their faith. It’s easy to see why the kids love her!

She’s kind, thoughtful and incredibly dedicated. She notices the little details, remembers the things that matter and brings so much care to everything she does. She also has that wonderful “mom energy” that makes the people around her feel immediately at ease, along with a funny side that makes her even more fun to be around.

We’re so happy she’s part of the St. Raphael family. Join us in wishing Ms. Gottbrath the happiest birthday! 🎉

Happy Birthday to Ms Diane Howell 💚🤍

If you’ve ever watched Ms. Diane run our cafeteria, you know she’s the perfect person for the job! She keeps everything in tiptop shape and runs that lunch line like a well-oiled machine. Getting that many students fed and through the line so quickly is downright impressive!

Ms. Diane takes tremendous pride in her work. She’s incredibly organized, notices every detail and works hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. She wants everything to be just right for our students, and the passion and dedication she brings to her job are impossible to miss.

She also cares deeply about the people around her and has a special way of making staff members feel seen, important and appreciated.

We’re so thankful for her hard work, her infectious laugh, her great hugs and the heart she brings to St. Raphael each day. Join us in wishing Ms. Diane the happiest birthday! 🎉
