6th-9th grade students spent all day Wednesday touring, creating a radio station business model, learning how to interview a music artist and recording a "host intro." at the incredible WUOL radio station. Students heard from local music celebrities such as music journalist, Ayisha Jaffer, professional cellist, Cecilia Huerta-Lauf, and radio host, Kiana Dell. A huge thank you to all of WUOL for giving our students some lifelong lessons and memories this week!

Ms. Fairhurst and five fifth and sixth graders attended the Kentucky World Language Association’s Student Expo, a cultural showcase where students K-12 show what they can do with their knowledge of world languages and cultures. Students watched cultural dances, created crafts, learned about Brazil and Ramadan, in which they ate brigadeiros and learned how to tie a hijab, and competed in arts and recitation contests. We are so proud of these students who represented both LCA and Latin so wonderfully!

8th-9th grade students experimented with water glasses in music class this week. Students learned the history of playing "singing glasses" and the different methods used to play them. They then went to the art room to fill up 8 glasses and attempt to create an octave scale. Learning the science and math that goes into playing the water glasses was truly an eyeopener!

In October, LCA’s Junior Classical League (JCL) club attended the regional JCL and Senior Classical League (SCL) meeting. Part of the meeting was an interactive lecture and workshop by UofL Philosophy Professor, Boomer Trujillo on Aristotle and friendship. Some of our JCL students, and our own Magistra Fairhurst were all featured in a news story about the event. Bravo to our wonderful students and to Magistra Fairhurst and Ms. Benver for leading this group. We are so proud of all of you.
