Giving back to the community. We have had the wonderful opportunity to become volunteers at Yew Dell Gardens. Amanda Barnett, Volunteer and Website Coordinator, has went above and beyond to coordinate this opportunity for us. Along with Sadye Heckman, Garden & Arboretum Manager, they have customized a volunteer program that allows our individuals to learn about gardening and experience nature while contributing to the community. Everyone looks forward to the volunteer days, along with the days they go to just visit. We are also working hard on our Fairy House that will be displayed in Yew Dell's Fairy Garden. GatheringClub is extremely proud of our Nursing Director, Khaga Sapkota, for being recognized as one of our communities Health Care Hero’s by Louisville’s Business First 2023. As Khaga said it best, ' It's about going above and beyond every day, to provide compassionate care for our aging population, regardless of the task, resources needed, or the amount of time it takes." It's about making the differences with each individual each and every day! Compassionate, Devoted, Loyal, Resourceful, Dependable and through it all ENTHUSIASTIC! Our Executive Director, Edward Minnis, takes servant leadership to heart and is currently en route to the NADSA conference. As an organization, we actively look for and embrace ways to ensure the organization's growth, for both individuals supported and frontline staff who are the heart of GatheringClub. That growth will serve not just current individuals, but new individuals that will want to be part of an amazing family because of what they have seen or heard about GatheringClub. Once Ed returns he will share the knowledge so that GatheringClub is combining best services with best practices, allowing us to continue to grow and provide the best services focusing on each individuals needs.

Last evening Gathering Club and Kumar Eye were honored to be a table sponsor at the Shively Area Ministry 13th Annual Banquet and Concert. It was an amazing evening with great stories of the good works Shively Area Ministries are involved in. The keynote speaker was Bellarmine Knights men’s basketball coach, Scott Davenport. His speech talked of caring and making a difference in people’s lives, as well as never delaying giving gratitude. While different organizations and companies work with different populations, we are all a community, and we work together for the good of all. Coach Davenport’s message made that realization sink in just a bit deeper as it touched the heart. Stop and take a moment to take a personal inventory. Do you have a caring attitude? Are you making a difference in someone’s life? Is your gratitude shown in the moment of something happening? The world we live in is not the kindest, but each of us can make it better, one person at a time. We can make that difference. We can be that story told years from now how we helped someone get through a hard time.
