It’s 9/25, so naturally we’re celebrating Dolly Parton Day with “9 to 5”!

Our principal, assistant principal, and secretary brought some sparkle to the halls today, playing Dolly’s song and delivering goodies to our teachers. A little fun and a big thank-you for all they do for our Hawks! 💖✨

¡Leamos Juntos! continues to make us proud! ❤️📚 Seeing our Hawthorne community, language, and culture celebrated by La Esquina makes this 5th year even more special. So grateful for every reader and community member who continues to show up for our estudiantes and remind them that their language and heritage are something to celebrate. ¡Gracias, La Esquina, por compartir nuestra historia! 🥹❤️

One of our FAVORITE days of the year! ❤️📚

Today Hawthorne celebrated our 5th Annual ¡Leamos Juntos! Hispanic Heritage Read-In! Our classrooms were filled with stories, culture, language, laughter, and connection as our incredible guest readers shared books—and a little piece of themselves—with our Hawks.

From parents and community members to professionals, high school students, and former Hawthorne Hawks, we are so grateful for everyone who showed up to celebrate Hispanic/Latine heritage, the Spanish language, bilingualism, and literacy with our students.

Five years of reading juntos. Five years of celebrating cultura. Five years of showing our students that representation matters, language matters, and literacy matters.❤️

¡Muchísimas gracias to our amazing community for making today so special!
¡Vamos a Volar! 🦅

¡Uno de nuestros días FAVORITOS del año! ❤️📚

¡Hoy Hawthorne celebró nuestro 5.º ¡Leamos Juntos! !

¡Vamos a Volar! 🦅❤️

We are so excited to receive GOLD status, the highest level awarded for our work with positive behavior interventions and supports! We received the following letter from Kentucky's Commissioner of Education, Dr. Fletcher. This is a HUGE accommplishment and testament to our staff, students, and school community. We work hard to create a positive culture and climate and ensure interventions and supports are in place to support this positive work!

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is proud to announce the recipients of our annual State Recognition of Fidelity of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) for schools, successfully implementing PBIS, during the 2025-2026 school year.

I am excited to share that 245 schools in the state applied to be recognized this year. It is with great honor and pride, that I inform you that Hawthorne Elementary School has earned a Gold recognition status for the 2025-2026 school year. Congratulations!
