MEMORIAL TREE PLANTING FOR SARAH McKINNEY
University of Louisville Health Sciences Center employees gathered recently to plant a tree in memory of Sarah McKinney. The group was honored to be joined by two of Sarah's children.
Sarah was a beloved member of the UofL campus community and worked as a Technical Specialist, Sr. in the Department of Pediatrics. She reinvigorated the UofL LGBTQ+ Faculty Staff Association (FSA) and grew its membership to more than 100 participants, after the group was dormant for a number of years. Sarah was also leader in the transgender community and served as chair of the Transgender Wellness Summit and co-founder of the Kentuckiana Transgender Support Group. She was a role model and mentor to countless individuals, assisting people through their transitions, and could always be counted on for support, assistance or encouragement.
The event was made possible thanks to the Department of Pediatrics, S.M.A.R.T. (School of Medicine Advancement, Retention, and Training) Staff, LGBT Center, UofL Sustainability Council, Physical Plant, and HSC Green Team.
The tree is located in front of the Clinical Translational Research Building, and will soon have a memorial marker.

Sweet Evening Breeze knows it can be hard to find an accepting roommate. They created a form to help you find a roommate that might be a good match for you. If you are matched with someone, they will reach out to both parties to set up and facilitate a meeting in a safe place. This form is for those living or wanting to live in the Louisville area.
