15th District PTA

The 15th District PTA hosted its annual Awards Banquet and dinner on Thurs., May 7, at a private venue on Preston Highway. This gathering attracted more than 200 people who celebrated their school’s PTA/PTSA milestones, programs, and achievements during the 2025-26 school year.

The people who step up to contribute time and talent for the benefit of all school students were the celebratory focus of the event.

JCPS Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood lauded the dedication of the PTA/PTSA officers and school volunteers who make magic happen for all students in their schools. In addition to several JCPS principals the event also attracted Jefferson County Board of Education representative Linda Duncan. Presenting the awards with Yearwood were 15th District PTA President Bobbi Jo Kingery and Kentucky PTA President Autumn Neagle.

Eight graduating seniors were awarded with $9,000 in scholarships.

School PTAs/PTSAs were honored for their exemplary efforts throughout the school year in such categories as Communications; Membership Campaigns; Outstanding Volunteer; and Special Projects and Programs. Several Family Resource and Youth Services Center (FRYSC) coordinators and school nurses were honored after being nominated by their school PTAs/PTSAs.

Dana Sanders, a career educator at Greathouse/Shryock Traditional Elementary, was added to the Hall of Fame. Two students—Abbie Johnson at Eastern High and Tohan Vinay Kumar at Greathouse/Shryock Traditional Elementary—were honored with the Exemplifying Student Awards.
