You're loving me as if the world might end.

Big doings this Thursday night in the Derby City--big enough to warrant an original poster commissioned from Jay Ryan AKA thebirdmachine . Last year's darling of the international music press, our own Ryan Davis, will be reconvening his rich, raucous Road House Band and returning triumphant from his recent global conquest. If that ain't enough to put some rowdy in your Wranglers, local legends Freakwater--the inventors of whatever game you think you're playing--will be on hand to sing the prettiest missives ever to issue from the abyss. See you there on Thursday, people, but please don't come up and talk to me if I'm crying. 🙏🏻

Here are five pieces from our current exhibition, "My Finger Is a Gun: Sculpture & Collages by Loren Myhre," on display in our Darby Forever Gallery through this Saturday. Each piece is entitled "HomeBodies" (oil print, pencil, collage, on paper), and they are priced at $125 apiece. The last one depicted here has sold, but the rest remain available for purchase. We will be hosting a closing reception on Saturday, June 20, from 6:00-9:00 PM. Please join us.

Our good friend Kamran stopped by today to say goodbye. Tomorrow, he and his family begin their move from Kentucky to Portland, Oregon. Kamran, as you may remember, was the customer who connected me to the late great Alice Whitaker, from whom I bought an amazing record collection in Lotts Creek, outside of Hazard. I am gonna miss Kamran's sweet, sophisticated presence and his comprehensive musical knowledge. Before he left today, he dropped a Captain Beefheart quote I'd never heard before: You can drown in sound or you can drown in paint--I'd rather drown in paint. Vaya con Dios, Kamran!

Hey, everybody, thanks for coming out and making our twin estate sales a big success. The rain held off until 4:00, and by then we'd both made out like bandits. Many items found their way to friends old and new, forming rhymes and echoes that were equal parts witchy and heart-warming. Sure, I roasted my knees in the blistering sun, but if my father were here, he'd put one hand on my sunburned leg and place the other one against my chest, saying, "It's a long way from your heart--I think you'll live." And then he'd smile, as I am smiling now. Thanks again, y'all. 💛

We still out here--until 5:00. Pull up.

Coming tomorrow, rain or shine (I have a car port, and Chris's is an indoor sale). I'll try to post some pictures, but everything is boxed up and ready to go, so I likely won't offer visual aids until we're all set up Sunday morning. Rest assured, this is gonna be big. I have ten tables and various shelving, and I feel confident that there's far more than I'll be able to display in a sensible manner--but that just means we'll have to do it wild style. See you in the morrow, y'all--only on Charles Street!

Hey, everybody, I've been busting my ass all week to get ready for Sunday's sale at my place and The Hort's house, half a block away. The sale(s) will be happening, rain or shine, as Chris will be admitting people inside, and I've got a car port that will keep any inclement weather off of us if need be.

I won't be putting out books or records at this sale--as I can sell those things at Surface Noise--but I'll be putting out lots and lots of other media, including cassettes and compact discs. There are tons of DVDs, too, including lots of drama and foreign films from the seventies and eighties (Peckinpah, Altman, Herzog), TV series box sets (The Office, The Wire, The Shield, Sanford & Son), and many, many music-related DVDs and VHS tapes. I'm even selling two VCRs if you don't have anything to play them on.

There will be music magazines as well, including Mojo, Uncut, and vintage copies of Creem magazine. Additionally, there will be lots of kitchen items (pots and pans, dishes, etc.), hella knick knacks, and the detritus of multiple lives well lived, including sombreros, taxidermy, fans, record crates, lamps, typewriters, and decoys for duck hunting. Who knows what else I'll dredge up from the basement or peel away from my future between now and Sunday. See you then, people, rain or shine--only on Charles Street!
