Hello all,

I will try to keep this as simple and direct as possible. Regrettably, I don't know who is or isn't informed of KITE's current status. I'm hopeful most of you know, and I sincerely apologize to those who are just learning of this through this letter.

The Kentucky Institute for Torah Education (KITE) is officially no longer.
This will be the last post or publication you will receive with that KITE logo on top.

HOWEVER!

Our soul and purpose have found a new home within Congregation Anshei Sfard. Just this past week, the board of directors of CAS unanimously agreed to hire me as their Executive Director and Rabbi Eli Wasser as the Associate Director. With great enthusiasm and support, Anshei Sfard has fully embraced and incorporated our mission and vision into their own. I could not be more grateful.

Indeed, Louisville Jewish outreach, engagement, education, inspiration, and connection are very much alive! As a member and past president of Anshei Sfard, I have seen up close Anshei Sfard's commitment and passion for Jewish outreach and continuity. I am super excited to formally work alongside my dear friend (and Rabbi) Rabbi Simcha Snaid in continuing to bring the light of Torah and the joy of Judaism to the thousands of Jews of Louisville, Kentucky.

Ok. Here's where I need to really try and keep it simple...

Thank You.
Because of you, the spirit of KITE will fly forever.
Thank you for believing in KITE. Thank you for supporting KITE.
Thank you for being so awesome.
All the best,
Rabbi Zack Blaustein

Exciting Stuff! We're so eager to learn more about our greater Louisville Jewish community.

Registration is now open to hear Brandeis University researchers present the results of the 2022 Study of Jewish Louisville – the most comprehensive research of Louisville’s Jewish community ever conducted.

The Jewish Heritage Fund has been at the forefront of enhancing, developing, and robustifying Jewish life and engagement here in Louisville Ky.
("Robustifying" doesn't seem to be a real word... but it definitely best describes JHF's impact on our community! 😃😃)

There are two Community Town Hall options you can attend:
Wednesday, September 7 at 6 p.m. in-person or via Zoom
Thursday, September 8 at 11:30 a.m. in-person
Both in-person presentations will be at The Trager Family JCC.
Please RSVP at jewishlouisvillestudy.org.

KITE is incredibly grateful for the tremendous support and friendship JHF has provided us throughout the years.
We look forward to continuing this unique partnership- giving every Louisville Jew the awesome opportunity "To Be Jewish In Louisville".

Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Hello!

My name is, Kendall Geller and for my National Honor Society Project, I am holding a 9 Days Compassion Challenge alongside the Kentucky Institute for Torah Education (KITE).

“The Three Weeks” is a time when a number of tragic events have historically befallen the Jewish People. This period begins on the 17th day of the Jewish month of Tammuz, the day the walls of Jerusalem were breached during the Second Temple Era, and concludes on the 9th of Av, the anniversary of the destruction of the First and Second Temples.

During this period, Jews are supposed to be in a period of mourning as we commemorate the losses our people have suffered. Specifically, the 9 days leading up to the 9th of Av is a period of particular sadness since the 2nd Temple was destroyed purely because of baseless hatred amongst Jewish people.

Unfortunately, that lack of unity and compassion is still apparent today. I am holding a 9 Days Compassion Challenge during this period since compassion is something that the Jewish community is especially in need of as we commemorate these tragedies.

I believe that everybody needs compassion in these times, so I have launched this in affiliation with KITE.

Essentially, I am asking people to complete small acts of compassion every day leading up to the 9th of Av. Additionally, I created a WhatsApp chat to deliver Daily Doses of Compassion throughout the 9 days and ideas of how they can spread kindness. Any ounce of compassion I can spread during these times helps mend some of the hatred that was, and remains, present.

Please join the group!

Last week we had a really fun LJYA Game Night!

Nothing like meeting new Louisville Jewish young adults during a game of Exploding Kittens!

Thanks to a generous donor we had delicious food from "Crunch". (Ty for delivering it from Chicago!)

We're again super grateful to the and for the opportunity to join forces to put on events like these for the Louisville Jewish community.

Stay tuned for more!
