We must increase and maintain our voter enthusiasm to take advantage of lack of it on the other side. That means talking to family, friends & neighbors, knocking on doors or volunteering in other ways for candidates, and making sure you are registered at your current address and have a plan to vote on Nov 3 or during early voting the week before.

WOW: New reporting reveals GOP operatives are finding a “scary” lack of enthusiasm among reliable Republican voters in key battleground states ahead of the midterms. Door-knockers say many are angry about rising prices, inflation, and the economic fallout from Trump’s policies and the ongoing Iran war. Some longtime Republican voters are even saying they’ll vote Democratic this November, while others are considering staying home altogether, per WaPo.

One Republican strategist warned that roughly 1 in 5 reliable GOP base voters could be at risk of not supporting Republican candidates in the midterms. Another pollster says Democratic enthusiasm is already back to 2018 levels, the year Democrats flipped the House, while Republican enthusiasm is lagging, especially among younger men who helped fuel Trump’s 2024 victory but are now increasingly worried about the economy.

If these trends hold, the political landscape could look very different this fall.

That’s why every election matters. Stay informed, stay engaged, and make sure you’re subscribed to the MeidasTouch Podcast.

Note that this is a vigil, not a protest, this time.

On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder.

Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. Join us for a vigil to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out.

This is a vigil, not a protest. We will be meeting at the base of the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge at Louisville Waterfront Park. We will begin with a prayer vigil in remembrance of Lorenzo and Johan and other victims of ICE violence. We will proceed across the bridge in a silent vigil with additional prayers on the bridge.

This event is sponsored by the following organizations: Kentucy Citizens for Democracy, The League of Women Voters of Louisville, Sharp Objects, Indivisible, First Unitarian Church, Worker's Circle, and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

The event will be held rain or shine. However, if severe weather is imminent we will consider adjusting the schedule.

A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
