The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Bellarmine University in Louisville KY The program begins in early summer (end of May) each year.

The student will be enrolled full-time for the next 36 months or up to a total of 145 credit hours. Clinical experiences occur throughout the curriculum with the last being three 12 week full-time internships at the end. Graduation occurs in May. The curriculum is outlined in detail on the program’s website. The program emphasizes integrated service learning experiences throughout the curriculum.

New updates for this application cycle include:

• No GRE required
• September 15 priority deadline
• December 1 final application deadline
• No supplemental Bellarmine application required

Military affiliated graduates from the Class of 2026 were recognized and thanked for their service and for their support of immediate family service members.

As a representative of the Office of Military and Veteran Services, DPT faculty Dr. Norman Ayotte, who served in the Army and was Director of PT Services at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Ford Hood, TX prior to retiring and beginning his next career teaching at Bellarmine, recognized the following students:

Congratulations to Dr. Terrell Grant-Scruggs and Dr. Tristin Schumacher from the Class of 2026, recipients of the TAO (Taking Advantage of Opportunities) Award!
The award was presented by the clinical education faculty team - Dr. Beth Quinn and Dr. Tara Granada. Recipients of the award are recognized for taking full advantage of the diverse experiences during their clinical education path to future clinical practice - in the spirit of Bellarmine's mission and the development of competencies for successful living, work, leadership, and service.

Congratulations to Dr. Loren Simpson, Class of 2026, recipient of the Richard H. Swigart Award for Academic Excellence!

Dr. Chantal Prewitt presented the award, named in honor of Dr. Swigart. It was through his efforts that the physical therapy program was founded. Dr. Swigart taught neuroanatomy for many years and challenged students to strive toward excellence and understanding in their chosen career.

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Hinton from the Class of 2026, recipient of the Dr. Nancy L. Urbscheit Award for Professionalism!

Dr. Urbscheit was the founding program director of the physical therapy program and was one of the first physical therapists to receive funding from the National Institute of Heath.

This award, presented this year by Dr. Tara Granada, is given to students who emulate the professionalism and core values modeled by Dr. Urbscheit.
