Parents,

For the past 30 years, Kayfield Academy has had the profound honor of serving the Louisville community and being part of the lives of thousands of children and families. What began as one center in Jeffersontown grew into three locations serving families across the East End, all built on a simple but deeply meaningful purpose: to provide children with a safe, loving, and enriching place to begin their educational and social journey.

Over the years, we have celebrated so many firsts alongside the families we have served—first days of school, first friendships, first lessons, and the first steps in helping children grow into confident, capable young learners. To be trusted with those moments has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives. Kayfield Academy has always been more than just a school to us. It has been a family, a mission, and a calling.

Like so many others, we faced tremendous challenges along the way. We weathered the uncertainty and hardship of COVID, continuing to stand for our families when stability and care were needed most. We were proud to remain a support system for working parents and especially for first responders and essential workers who depended on us during some of the most difficult days our community has faced. Through every challenge, our teachers, caregivers, and staff showed extraordinary strength, compassion, and commitment.

In more recent years, we also endured painful and deeply discouraging attacks on our reputation through erroneous and unsubstantiated accusations that sought to overshadow the decades of honest work, love, and dedication poured into this school by our teachers and caregivers. That was one of the most difficult chapters in our history, not only because of the personal toll, but because of how unfairly it affected the people who gave so much of themselves to the children in our care. Even through that, we remained proud of the heart of Kayfield Academy and of the countless lives touched in positive ways over the last three decades.

It is with a very heavy and bittersweet heart that we share Kayfield Academy will be closing our facilities and transitioning to KinderCare on April 27. This is not simply the end of a business chapter. It is the closing of a 30-year journey that has meant so much to our family, our staff, and the community we have been blessed to serve.

While there is real sadness in saying goodbye, there is also gratitude and hope. Gratitude for every family who entrusted us with their children, every teacher and caregiver who poured their heart into this work, and every child whose laughter, growth, and spirit filled our classrooms over the years. And hope that this transition will carry forward the care, support, and educational foundation that have always mattered so much to us.

As we pass the torch, we do so knowing KinderCare is deeply aligned with our belief in putting children and families first, and we trust they will continue to build on the strong foundation our community created together.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing Kayfield Academy to be part of your families’ lives for the past 30 years. The memories, the relationships, and the impact of this journey will stay with us always.
