Biography of Nelson Mandela – Nelson Mandela Foundation 07/18/2021

Good morning all!

Today, July 18th, is Nelson Mandela International day. Today is used to recognize Mandela's birthday. On July 18th, 2009, the U.N. General Assembly chose to recognize Mandela due to his call for action asking the next generation to "take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world's social injustices." Mandela said, "It is in your hands now." Today is meant as a celebration for his life and legacy to honor all that he did to change the world.

Let us collectively use today to reflect on Nelson Mandela. Please see the link provided to read Mandela's biography and explore the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Biography of Nelson Mandela – Nelson Mandela Foundation We are a non-profit organisation focused on dialogue and advocacy, and memory and legacy work, founded by Nelson Mandela in 1999.
