We đź‘€ you, Dr. Kalra! đź«€

FIRST IN KENTUCKY | Congratulations to the team that recently completed UofL Health's first cardiac PET scan. This represents a major milestone for our cardiology program, and we are proud to be the first site in Kentucky to utilize the advanced radiotracer Flyrcado for cardiac imaging.

Cardiac PET has superior diagnostic accuracy for ischemia, reducing false-positive results and enabling more precise clinical decision-making. It also expands our ability to diagnose complex conditions such as cardiac sarcoidosis, microvascular angina and device-related infections.

Banrida Wahlang, assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, is studying how “forever chemicals” impact the body differently in women, helping uncover critical gaps in our understanding of disease and toxic exposure.

Through her research and mentorship, she’s advancing more inclusive science and shaping a future where women’s health is fully represented.
