Student Isabelle Johnson served as a Kentucky Derby concierge, where she ran into Instructor and Churchill Downs Ambassador, Beth Denham.

Congratulations to all who participated in or cheered for the Speech Competition! Devoted professors prepared students who gave well-researched, carefully prepared persuasive presentations to two rounds of judges. Final placements to celebrate include spring semester winners in first place Adianez Ruiz Ramos, in second place Preston Norton, in third place Hank Shears, and in 4th place, Fanglian Zhu. Fall recipients include first place Kenny Kendrick, second place Sophia Broomell, third place Mason Lee, and fourth place Olivia Moldoveanu. The students who placed today were students in Ryan Cummings, Aaron Ellis, Bex Wells-Gonzalez, Michelle Eigenheer, and Laurie Taylor courses. Katherine Taylor, thank you for the legacy you will leave as you retire!

The Department of Communication Event Planning Class has been out and about. They created an event plan and presented it to PG and J’s owner and UofL alum Dr. Gina Nobles! Their visit to Heitzman’s Bakery and Deli/Events 4 U included yummy food, compliments of Marguerit Schadt, Owner. Susan’s Florist made for a great class experience, and J Wagner Group, too!

David Dominé, Louisville-based author, storyteller, tour guide, and proud , visited the Department of Communication today to talk with students and share insights about his work taking stories from the page to the screen.
