Please join us in congratulating Sonia Allman, recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Service to KY|TN AWWA Award!
Each year, the KY|TN AWWA Board of Trustees recognizes an individual whose volunteer service, leadership, and dedication have meaningfully advanced the Section and its mission. Sonia’s many years of service reflect the very best of that commitment.
She currently serves as the Tennessee Trustee for the Member Engagement Council, Chair of TN-WARN, and a member of the Communications and Outreach Committee. She also contributes nationally through the AWWA Stormwater Utility Management Committee.
Sonia has held every Executive Board role within the Section, including serving as Chair in 2018. Her distinguished service to the water profession and AWWA was also recognized in 2021, when she received the George Warren Fuller Award.
Sonia’s leadership, generosity, and enduring commitment have strengthened both the Section and the water community it serves.

Please join us in congratulating George Fordjour, recipient of the 2026 Rengao Song Scholarship for Water Science and Technology!
George is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky. His research and academic work reflect the innovation, technical excellence, and commitment to water quality that this scholarship was created to support.
The $10,000 scholarship honors Dr. Rengao Song, an accomplished water quality leader who retired from Louisville Water Company in 2020 after more than 20 years of service. During his distinguished career, Dr. Song and his team earned numerous honors, including the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Samuel Arnold Greeley Award for outstanding research.
Funded by Louisville Water Company and KY|TN AWWA, the scholarship supports graduate students who embody Dr. Song’s spirit of innovation and excellence in water quality.
George’s abilities, research, and dedication hold great promise for advancing water quality and treatment throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and beyond.
Congratulations, George, on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition. We also extend our appreciation to Louisville Water Company for its generous support of this scholarship and the next generation of water professionals.

Congratulations to Taylor Risinger of Hardin County Water District No. 2, winner of the Meter Challenge at WPC26!
In this competition, teams of operators and laboratory technicians put their knowledge to the test by answering scientific questions and solving math problems to earn the highest score.
Success requires technical expertise, quick thinking, accuracy, and a strong understanding of the science behind water treatment and utility operations. Taylor demonstrated those skills throughout the competition and earned a well-deserved victory.

In this fast-paced competition, individual contestants race against the clock to reassemble working water meters from a collection of parts. Success requires technical knowledge, precision, speed, and the ability to stay focused under pressure.

Congratulations to Duck River Utilities Commission, winner of the 2026 People’s Choice Water Taste Test at Water for Life during the Water Professionals Conference!

Congratulations to the Louisville Lady Legends, winners of the Pipe Tapping Competition at WPC26!
This fast-paced competition challenges teams to work safely, precisely, and efficiently as they tap a pressurized ductile iron water main, install a corporation stop, prepare and connect copper tubing, add a curb stop, and complete the service line connection to a meter yoke.
Success requires technical skill, teamwork, communication, and the ability to perform under pressure. The Louisville Lady Legends brought all of that to the competition and earned a well-deserved victory.
