🚨NTI DAY | Due to the additional snow and ice on roads and sidewalks throughout Jefferson County, JCPS will utilize a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Students should follow their school’s established NTI protocols. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.

All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday.

If there are any changes to the YMCA CEP program, families will be notified by YMCA CEP.

🚨DELAYED START | JCPS will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, February 2, 2026. There will be no JCPS Early Childhood classes. This decision will allow students to be waiting at bus stops and walking to school in the daylight.

If your child is a bus rider, their bus will pick them up two hours later than normal. We appreciate your patience as bus drivers prioritize safety. If your student is a bus rider or walker, please make sure to check their route and talk with them about safe places to stand and walk. If you are driving your student to school please allow extra time for transportation.

School start times when operating on a two-hour delay:

7:30 a.m. schools will start at 9:30 a.m.
8:40 a.m. schools will start at 10:40 a.m.
9:40 a.m. schools will start at 11:40 a.m.

All dismissal times remain normal.

After school athletic and extracurricular activities remain scheduled as planned.

If there are any changes to the YMCA Child Enrichment Program (CEP), families will be notified by CEP.

❄ NTI DAYS | After evaluating road conditions throughout the community, Wednesday, Jan. 28 and Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days for JCPS students and staff. While our crews report that most main roads are in good shape, many side streets and neighborhood roads across the county remain hazardous. Due to these lingering conditions and low temperatures, we believe transitioning to NTI is the safest choice for our students and staff.

Students should follow their school’s established NTI protocols. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.

All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday and Thursday. If there are any changes to the YMCA CEP program, families will be notified by YMCA CEP.

❄ SNOW DAYS | Due to snow and hazardous road conditions, Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 will be traditional snow days with no online learning.

All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled.

If there are any changes to YMCA CEP, families will be notified by CEP.

We will re-evaluate conditions on Tuesday and provide an update on Wednesday's schedule as early as possible so our families and staff have time to prepare.

❄️NTI DAY | Due to forecasted frigid temperatures in the early morning hours on Monday, December 15, 2025, we have made the decision to use a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day for students and staff.

This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our students in mind, as they would be waiting at bus stops and walking to school in extremely cold conditions. The National Weather Service tells us temperatures could drop as low as 1 below with windchill.

On short-term NTI days, instruction is asynchronous and self-paced, meaning students will not receive live, online lessons from a teacher. All families received NTI instructions from their schools.

Temperatures are expected to warm throughout the day so all after school athletic and extracurricular activities will go on as scheduled.

If there are any changes to YMCA CEP, families will be notified by CEP.

❄ NTI Day | Due to forecasted winter weather, Friday, December 12, 2025 will be a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day for JCPS students and staff.

This short-term NTI day is recognized as a standard instructional day and will not extend the school calendar. On these days, instruction is asynchronous and self-paced, meaning students will not receive live, online lessons from a teacher. Families received school-specific NTI plans in November; please refer to those plans for details on assignments and expectations. Each Kentucky school district has 10 NTI days available, and this will be our second NTI day of the school year.

Additionally, all after-school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Friday, December 12. If there are any changes to the YMCA Child Enrichment Program (CEP), families will be notified directly by the CEP staff.

The community forum originally scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Center for Professional Learning has been rescheduled. It will now take place on Thursday, December 4, from 5–6 p.m. at Stewart Auditorium.
