There’s a difference between using AI to research a sermon and using it to write one.

Dr. York explains that AI can be useful for finding information quickly—like tracing where Scripture uses a particular phrase. But asking AI to craft the sermon crosses a different line.Pastors are called to study the Word, wrestle with the text, and faithfully preach it to their people.

Where should pastors draw the line with AI?

AI can be a useful tool for research, but preaching and shepherding require more than information. They require a pastor who knows God’s Word, walks with the Holy Spirit, and knows the people he has been called to shepherd.

The tools may change, but the responsibility to faithfully preach Christ and shepherd His people remains with the pastor.

In the classroom, Dr. Claunch shows students that systematic theology begins and ends under the authority of Scripture. Every doctrine we articulate must be shaped by what God has revealed in his Word.
