Meet the Team | Jonathan Ahlgren, Director of Online Learning
__
When asked how he first came to Southern Seminary, Jonathan said: "I came to Southern Seminary in 2011, captivated by the missionary focus of the campus and the zeal students had for the Christian life. I became an online student in 2013 as I entered pastoral ministry. Studying online provided me the flexibility I needed to faithfully pastor a church far from Louisville. I returned to campus in 2016 with a calling to serve in online theological education and begin a residential Ph.D."
When asked about a professor who has had a positive impact on him personally, he said this: "Dr. Adam Howell and Dr. Rob Plummer have had the greatest impact on me. Students who take classes with these two men don’t just learn how to read the Bible, they also learn what it means to live a godly life in humility and love."

📖 Today's featured faculty-authored book is How to Teach the Old Testament to Christians by SBTS Faculty, T.J. Betts. Available to order online at https://buff.ly/49aeg0w
__
"The Hebrew Scriptures are the beginning of―and foundation for―God’s incredible story of redemption. Studying the Old Testament, and its relationship to God’s new covenant, inspires wonder and awe at God’s grand plan of salvation that spans millennia. Tragically, too many preachers and Bible teachers don’t have the time or inclination to dive into the depths of the Old Testament. T. J. Betts, respected professor of Old Testament interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, provides a convenient solution in this book:
- By walking you through the steps to effectively preach and teach the Old Testament
- By describing how to interpret the stories and narratives in the Hebrew Scriptures
- By outlining how to present, illustrate, and apply the Old Testament to people’s lives"

Meet the Team | Kathy "Kat" Savage, Administrative Assistant
__
When asked how she first came to Southern Seminary, Kat said: "A series of events that only the Lord could orchestrate; from starting life over in Louisville, to asking what is that redbrick building on the hill above Grinstead Drive. Thank you, Lord, for your divine and providential guidance."
When asked about a professor who has had a positive impact on her personally, she said this: "As a non-student here, I have to say, Dr. Mohler and the faculty, who have come and gone through the years, who hold firm to Biblical Inerrancy, Gospel Truth, and the Great Commission. The scholarship we have access to, available through various media, is a gift to all believers for individual spiritual growth; available to believer and unbeliever alike and is life-changing."

Meet the Team | Kaitlyn Pindak, Online Program Coordinator
__
When asked how she first came to Southern Seminary, Kaitlyn said this: "My church, Cornerstone Community Church in Jackson, TN, is the home of the SBTS extension center. I began classes under the oversight of my pastors there, as they teach the systematic courses for the extension center. (Shameless plug: if you live in the West TN area, you should consider taking classes in person with them! It is excellent!) But, I took all of the classes that I could in person at the extension center, and I wanted to be in the community around biblical counseling in order to have oversight in person, so I moved to Louisville! The care through the online program is excellent, so if I was not able to move, I would have had a great experience that way too."
When asked about a professor who has had a positive impact on her personally, Kaitlyn said this: "Dr. Jones has been a formative biblical counseling professor as the detail that he takes with his students helps prepare them with the various different nuanced details that they may encounter with counseling, while demonstrating compassionate and considerate oversight for all that he is teaching. Dr. Henderson's class, Crisis and Trauma Counseling has been one of my favorites also as it has been both extremely practical and full of insight on how to walk through biblical texts in the problems that people face."

Meet the Team | John Baker, Instructional Designer
__
John first came to Southern Seminary to receive further training so that he would be more equipped to train pastors in a Latin American context.
When asked about a professor who has had a positive impact on him personally, John said this: "It goes without saying that Tom Schreiner is a top-tier evangelical scholar. Before coming to Louisville, I had already been impacted by his scholarship. After arriving on the campus of SBTS, I began to hear more about Dr. Schreiner's personality than about his academic achievements. Over the years, I have had the privilege of getting to know Tom on a personal level and have been blessed to have him as one of the many faithful pastors in my local church. Dr. Schreiner's love for Lord, his word, and his people is contagious; being around him makes me a better Christian! "
