Blake Elementary recently kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) with a special visit from Hillview police officer, Officer Seda. He engaged with our Safety Patrol Team and the entire 5th-grade class, focusing on our September Character Strong Trait: Respect.
Officer Seda shared how his Hispanic heritage and values influenced his commitment to serving the community. He recognized our Safety Patrol students for their contributions, highlighting the importance of both police officers and Safety Patrol members in keeping our school and community safe. His message emphasized that true leadership comes from kindness, fairness, and respect.
In his talk, Officer Seda discussed three essential aspects of respect:
1. Self-Respect: He encouraged students to care for themselves and make good choices as the foundation for earning respect.
2. Respect for Others: He stressed the importance of treating everyone with dignity, regardless of their background.
3. Respect for Rules: He explained that laws and school safety rules exist to protect us all.
Overall, Officer Seda’s visit inspired our students to embrace respect as a key value in building a compassionate community.
