(A Messier Marathon is an all-night astronomy event in which we try to view as many deep-sky objects in the Messier Catalogue as possible. We're trying for 109.) Stay for two minutes, two hours, or the entire night. (We hope to take a two-hour nap around 2 or 3am.) Emerald Hills Skies Team Expansion

Tonight (Sunday, Feb. 18), join us for "Catch a Big Vision" of the mysteries of the night sky. We'll try to explain the most common objects you can see with a telescope as if to a 5-year-old - then to a young adult - then to an amateur astronomer. Join us at 10pm ET at https://www.youtube.com/live/KC1r6ZX-u5Q?si=BqETWjhHn1WLtsAr . Hope to see you there!

The skies are clearin! Let's open up the observatory tonight and, together, use our 11-inch RASA telescope from 10:30pm to 12:30am ET, on unobserved objects on Steve O'Meara's Hidden Treasures list of Deep-Sky Objects. Let's try a first round at a Messier Marathon tonight, 3/14/2023, beginning at 8pm ET. I'm a bit concerned that we will lose Saturday night's clarity. Clouds are starting to crop up in the forecast. So please join us tonight. Just click to https://www.youtube.com/ and look for the live stream. The Messier List features 109 of some of the biggest and relatively brightest deep-space objects in the entire night sky. During this particular week in the spring, it's possible to see *many* of the 109 objects. We probably won't be able to see quite *all* of them, but we will hope to come close - in one night. This will be our third Messier Marathon - but the first time we'll be attempting to cover all 109 objects with the same scope. Hope to see you there! Emerald Hills Skies

Tomorrow night (Saturday night, May 28), 11pm to 1am ET, catch the Emerald Hills Skies through an 11-inch RASA Telescope. You'll see exactly what I'm seeing, real-time. We're planning to continue working through the Herschel 400 list of deep-space objects. You're invited to come along with us on the journey, whether for 2 minutes or the whole 2 hours! Just find the red "live" indicator at

(Tomorrow night, we'll also try to demonstrate the new roll-off roof motor we've been working on for our Pier-Tech Telestation 2 observatory. It's a bit like playing with tinker-toys for adults!) Emerald Hills Skies

Tomorrow night, the forecast is crystal clear! Beginning at 10:30pm ET, you're invited to join me "at the eyepiece," so to speak. To do so, just click to:

http://www.YouTube.com/c/EmeraldHillsSkies
.. and look for the video with the "Live" symbol in the red box.

We'll be introducing the Caldwell List. These 109 objects are rarely observed by anyone, yet many are quite beautiful. They might not have an "M" number -- but that simply means that Charles Messier never noticed them himself (from atop his hotel in Paris, back in the 1700s). Let's scout these objects out... from 10:30pm onward. Join for 5 minutes or the entire two hours - it's your call.

To learn more about our observing and to see past live streams, you can visit

Thanks for taking part!!!
