📸 MSN-FNP alums, Leigha Bowyer-Jones and Jordan Kirchgessner, surprised our first year Advanced Health Assessment course with a few words of encouragement and mini bundt cakes for the class.

When finals are coming up, sometimes you need encouragement AND cake 💪🧁

We love our small cohorts and our super supportive healthcare community!

Stepping out of the classroom and into the pharmacy with MSN-FNP students in Professor Chris Pickering’s NURS-638: Applied Pharmacology course!

In this class, students focus on safe and effective drug therapies in primary care, including prescription, monitoring, and patient education.

By spending time in a pharmacy setting, students were able to interview a pharmacist and explore the importance of interprofessional collaboration.

Spalding University School of Nursing is home to the oldest MSN program in Louisville. Cultivating strong partnerships in our community is a cornerstone of our program. This allows us to secure clinical placements, offer tuition discounts for employees of partner health networks, and provide meaningful collaborative opportunities like this one.

Celebrating School of Nursing Assistant Professor, Dr. Collan Darnall, who recently added “PhD” to his already extensive list of credentials:
Collan Darnall, PhD, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C 📋✔️

His qualitative study explored the topic of “Evaluating the Utility of Mentorships to Improve Self-Efficacy Among Novice Nurse Practitioners.”

We’re so proud that he’s part of our faculty!

(He’s also assured us that he’s going to abbreviate his credentials to Collan Darnall, PhD, DNP, APRN. 😌)

Congratulations, Dr. Darnall!

Tackling a hands-on activity in NURS-639: Advanced Pathophysiology.

In this exercise, first-year MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner and MSN-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students were tasked with matching characteristics to different mental health disorders.

Our hybrid MSN programs allow our students to learn by doing. Through hands-on activities, we promote teamwork and problem-solving, while reinforcing key concepts, so every graduate is ready to succeed in clinical practice. 🩺
