This week, we celebrate the power of Registered Apprenticeships to build a stronger economy, create pathways to great careers, and promote equity in the workforce.

Today, we’re spotlighting Geoffrey and Bradley, two apprentices excelling in their two-year program. They balance on-the-job training with their employer and classroom learning at our partner Gateway Community & Technical College, gaining skills and experience to drive their future success. Their dedication shows how apprenticeships transform potential into opportunity—opening doors to growth, learning, and achievement.

Last week, D'Neika Lopez, Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement, and Tomeka Shelton, Professional Development Specialist, represented MAPS and the College of Education and Human Development, University of Louisville at the annual Kentucky Primary Care Association Fall Conference. The conference provided a great opportunity to connect with our partners, make new connections, and celebrate and share our success in developing apprenticeships that support and strengthen Kentucky's healthcare workforce.

Last week, our team members, D'Neika Lopez and Tomeka Shelton, attended the 40th Annual KYSHRM Conference in Louisville, KY. The conference included many insightful workshops that explored topics like AI, project management, employment law and approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion in talent acquisition and talent development. It also provided a great opportunity to connect with local and regional HR leaders to talk about all things hashtag . D’Neika even won a gift basket from Steele.

Yesterday the MAPS team was invited to present at the Closing the Skills Gap (CSG) peer-to-peer session on reporting and partner management strategies. Thank you, Safal Partners, for the opportunity to share our experience and innovative strategies!

Last week, the MAPS team and colleagues were invited to present at the AMPS Conference hosted at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. The two groups presented on the MAPS project and workforce development for smart spaces. Conference attendees were particularly interested in MAPS’ success developing apprenticeship programs in collaboration with academic units, employers, and community organizations.
