📣 **APTA Call to Action Day!**

Today, we are calling on Spalding DPT students, faculty, alumni, and members of the physical therapy community to use their voices in support of the **Physical Therapist Workforce and Patient Access Act (H.R. 5621/S. 4420).**

This legislation would:

✅ Add physical therapists to the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program
✅ Strengthen the physical therapy workforce
✅ Expand access to PT services in rural and medically underserved communities
✅ Help community health centers hire physical therapists and provide needed rehabilitation services

Advocacy is part of our professional responsibility—and taking action only takes a few minutes. Contact your members of Congress today and encourage them to support this important legislation!

Our Spalding DPT students had a great time learning, connecting, and representing our program at the APTA Kentucky Annual Conference!

Students had the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers, network with physical therapy professionals and peers, and see firsthand the importance of advocacy and involvement in shaping the future of our profession.

The energy and passion throughout the conference were a great reminder of why they chose physical therapy—and the difference they can make as future PTs! 💙

We honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the extraordinary first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

Firefighters, police officers, EMS professionals, healthcare providers, and countless others demonstrated what it means to put the needs of others before their own—many making the ultimate sacrifice that day.

May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and those whose lives were forever changed.

Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.
Candidacy is considered to be an accredited status, as such the credits and degree earned from a program with Candidacy status are considered, by CAPTE, to be from an accredited program. Therefore, students in the charter (first) class should be eligible to take the licensure exam even if CAPTE withholds accreditation at the end of the candidacy period. That said, it is up to each state licensing agency, not CAPTE, to determine who is eligible for licensure. Information on licensing requirements should be directed to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT; www.fsbpt.org) or specific state boards (a list of state boards and contact information is available on FSBPT’s website.

Dr. Christy White is transitioning to a full-time faculty role after 13 years at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute. She brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience and is excited to bring that expertise straight from the clinic to the classroom!
