A fantastic last day of school was topped off with the End-of-Year Faculty Luncheon, a celebration for current Faculty Members. We extend a warm invitation to our Retired Faculty Members to join us, and this year they truly showed up.

We were overjoyed to welcome back so many beloved teachers who’ve left a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of decades upon decades of KCD students.

This tremendous group of individuals brought care and love with them today, and we are so grateful they made the effort to attend—some even traveling in from out of town. We send our love to those who couldn’t make it.

Our teachers make us who we are at KCD. Each and every one is a treasure! 💙💛

Congratulations, KCD Alumna and Community Partner, Dr. Raina Chandiramani ‘08, for her selection as a 2026 Louisville Business Women First Enterprising Woman! This program recognizes professional women for their contributions to business and community. Dr. Raina Chandiramani, owner and sole orthodontist at Louisville Orthodontics, oversees clinical care, treatment planning, team development, marketing, and day-to-day operations. We are grateful for the ways she supports our Bearcat community, and very proud of her thriving business! Stop by to see Dr. C and her stellar team in Norton Commons and Jeffersonville. 🦷

Dr. C shared with LBF: "Empathy is one of the most important skills I bring to my work. It allows me to truly understand each patient’s concerns, goals and experiences and tailor treatment in a way that feels supportive and personalized.

Orthodontic care is a journey and being able to connect with patients on a human level helps build trust, improve communication and leads to better outcomes and a positive experience."

Nothing like a moment with three KCD Lower School legends in the Commons to make your day! ☀️ Julie Smith, Interim Lower School Director, and Sue Sessions, Junior Kindergarten Teacher, enjoyed catching up with beloved retired teacher, Andrea Goode, during her recent visit to campus.

Decades of teaching at KCD between them, and they still light up the room with their love and care for our Bearcat community! 🫶

Since 1976, students have experienced the colorful thrill of Wild Kingdom Day, laying it all on the line for their Upper School Advisee teams. Pink Panthers, Orange Orangutans, and the like sift through muck, compete in tug-of-war battles, and show up with infinite amounts of team spirit with their teachers by their sides. Wild Kingdom Day is one of our longest-standing, most memorable, and FUN traditions, remembered by alumni of all ages.

We’re in the final few hours of KCD’s Spring Days of Giving. Can you help us reach our goal of 200 gifts by midnight? Gifts of every size make a difference at KCD. 💙💛

Our faculty is at the heart of what we do and who we are at KCD. The enduring legacy of passionate educators like Dr. Mark Endicott overflows from the design and fabrication lab, while joyful noise from our musicians of all ages resonates from The Amelia Rebecca Moody Piano Laboratory, named for the beloved Kentucky Home School music teacher.

Make a gift and share an experience in memory or in honor of those special individuals who made a difference in your KCD journey.

Did you know Bearcat Backyard (the wooden playground) was built by hundreds of parents, teachers, and students, one hammer and nail at a time?

And that the Gernert Grove nature playground is named in memory of KCD’s beloved head of school, Mr. John Gernert, who helped shepherd the merging of our predecessor schools?

At KCD, we practice gratitude daily for our 80+ acre campus, and especially the countless play spaces created with intention, generosity, and sweat equity!

Thank you for supporting KCD’s Spring Days of Giving! Don’t forget to share your favorite Bearcat memory at the same time.

It’s the people who shape us. 💙💛 KCD’s beloved World Language faculty nurture our students and open their eyes to the world outside of Springdale Road. Our educators teach through stories and song, holding a lifelong place in the hearts of our students.

Opportunities to travel to Seville and Granada with Señora Roelofsen, adventure to Europe with Mr. Hagenau, and explore Costa Rica with Mr. Pollitt have shaped our students’ lives and prepared them for the world beyond the classroom.

Join us in sharing your most memorable KCD experiences and help us reach 200 gifts in 72 hours!
