Laukhuf Elementary School- Where Learners Become Leaders!

First Day Update: Thank you for a FABULOUS first day. I was able to visit every classroom and was so impressed with what I saw on day one. We are so excited for the year ahead.

A few updates/reminders for day two:

ALL students must be dropped off in the car rider line, on a bus, or as a walker tomorrow. No students can be walked to the front door unless we have them marked as a walker in our system. If you try to park and walk them up, you will be asked to go back to your car and get in the car rider line.

CAR RIDER LINE (Please share this info with anyone who may pick up your child):

-Please do not cut in the line. Stay behind the car in front of you and follow the traffic pattern. This will cause significant delays and will not save you any time.

-If you need to buckle a child, please pull over in the parking lot to do so. This will keep traffic moving.

-Please drive slowly when maneuvering the parking lot. We have lots of children and staff in the area.

-Please have your RED car rider tag hanging in your car and visible to staff. This will keep the line moving. If you do not have a red tag, you will be required to show an ID. No exceptions.

-Our staff volunteer their time to stay and help with loading our car riders each day. Please be kind to them. Verbal harassment will not be tolerated.

BUS TIMES:

-Please arrive to your stop 10-15 minutes early and WAIT in both the morning and afternoon. Buses are often late during these first 2 weeks of school until everyone is more familiar with the route. Please remind your child to watch/listen for their bus stop.

-If you have multiple children who ride the bus, please remind them to look out for each other. If they notice a sibling is not on the bus or did not get off the bus, have them tell a staff member or the bus driver as soon as possible.

Overall, it was a very successful first day. Thanks again for your support.

We are excited for the first day of school TOMORROW!
Some reminders/requests:
Doors open at 9:10. Arrival and dismissal will likely take longer the first several days of school as we tag students and students get used to our routines. Please have your phone available to receive calls in case we need to get in touch to clarify transportation.

CAR RIDER LINE:
Please follow the car in front of you and travel at a slow speed across our campus. We will work to get the car rider line moving as quickly as we can, but need your help! In the morning, please have your child ready to exit the car BEFORE you pull up. In the afternoon, please have your RED car rider tag displayed for our staff to view. PLEASE BE PATIENT- the line will be long and slower than usual. Our staff members are volunteering their time after school to help ensure your child remains safe. Please be kind.

BACKPACK TAGS:
Please keep the tags on your child's backpack all year. We check these daily.

KINDERGARTEN:
Only kindergarten families may walk their child up to the classroom door on the first day, 8/6/26 ONLY. Any students starting after 8/6 will need to be dropped off in the car rider line or ride the bus to school. No exceptions.

LUNCH:
No lunch visitors will be permitted until 8/17. This is strictly for the safety and operations of our school.

BUS APP:
Please download the My Ride K-12 App. Search for Jefferson County Public Schools Louisville KY. You can find your child's student number in the transportation portal or in Infinite Campus.

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES:
Please have your child go home their normal way on the first day of school. This helps them to establish routines. If you must make a change, please send a note in writing or email [email protected] before 3:45 p.m. Changes may only be made in writing by the parent/guardian. Telling your child of the changes will not suffice.

SEND ALL THE POSITIVE VIBES!!
Here's to the best year yet at Laukhuf Elementary. We can't wait to get started!

Enjoy a quick video of our staff prepping for tomorrow!

Laukhuf Families,
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer break so far. Mrs. Temple (our secretary) and I came back into the office today and are busy preparing for the upcoming 26-27 school year. We are the only staff available at this time, so please be patient as we work to catch up on voicemails and emails. Teachers and most school staff do not return to work until the first week of August.

Letters with teacher information, supply lists, and dress code will be sent via mail later this week to the home address we have on file. Orientation and meet and greet information is included in the letter as well.

Our office phone will be answered from 9:30-3:30 each day through the end of this month. We will update this page and provide more information about back to school events as the dates get closer.

Have a great day!
Ms. Sells, Principal

Familias Laukhuf,

Sra. Sells, directora
