The Outdoor Collaborative KY

The Outdoor Collaborative KY Connecting homeschool families with nature in the greater Louisville area. We organize outdoor meet-ups for homeschool families in the greater Louisville area.

Our goal is to connect folks with nature and each other while learning more about our local outdoor environment. Our meet-ups are unstructured and play focused, but we often provide either a short activity or materials the kids can use to enhance their learning as they play. More details are available on our website. To join our group:

1. Sign-up for a free trial meet-up in our website store
2. Pay the annual fee of $60 and create a profile on the website

You'll then have access to the members only calendar on the website where you can see all the details of our upcoming meet-ups, and are free to attend as many as you like!

We couldn't agree more! We had a wonderful time at The Butterfly Greenhouse last week. It was indeed tough to get the kids to leave. We highly recommend making the drive!

We went on the prettiest field trip today at The Butterfly Greenhouse and Lola Children's Garden! The kids got to feed and hold butterflies and examine caterpillars. Then they got to play in the gardens and explore the extensive nursery. If you haven't been, it's a fabulous place!

Last week our group visited Anchorage Trail - a beautiful 2 mile loop featuring an old amphitheater, tree swing, pond, and lovely bridges. The kids had a great time building squirrel homes, climbing trees, and exploring.

Whitehall hosted us for a fantastic field trip all about the ecology of KY. The kids got to pet a worm snake, two kinds of turtles, and a green frog. They also got to see some fascinating venomous snakes (from a safe distance). And they finished up with some delicious cake! Thanks to Dan and Judy Dourson for a wonderful program.
